Page 55 of Only for Me
He glared at me for a minute then dropped his head back. “I’m talking to you.”
“I’m not a professional and it really helps, more than drinking and getting high.”
Omiri grunted and lifted his head, staring at me. “How the fuck we end up here?”
“You stalked me at a pharmacy then crashed into my car in my driveway, which by the way we need to discuss…”
He grinned sexily. “I’ll buy you a new car whatever you want and you know that’s not what the fuck I meant.”
I leaned to the side and reached for my phone on the end table and he frowned at me. “What the fuck you doing?”
“Documenting that you said you’ll buy me my dream car since your Range is attached to the bumper of mine.”
“Bruh…” He plucked my phone from my hand and tossed it on the sofa. “I’m a man of my word so you don’t need that shit. What I meant is we went from you coming for my neck to giving me advice about the fucked up shit in my life.”
“We have a common denominator…Avi.”
He nodded, frowning with his brows pinched. “Co-parenting doesn’t have shit to do with you being here for me though.”
“Actually, it does. You have to be okay so you’re good with her and that’s something I understand more than anyone.” I didn’t want to darken the mood again so I grinned and added, “And can we also document that I’m the bigger person and in your words, not mine, I’m here for you.”
He chuckled. “Yo’ ass. Yeah, you got that.”
“I can absolutely get that. I’m going to go check on Avi. I washed a load of clothes so you have some clean stuff here. I’ll get it for you.”
He frowned, shaking his head. “Nah, I think I’m going to head home?”
I glared and he grinned. “iDrive, man. I’m not gonna piss you off by trying to drive my own shit again.”
“You’re here, you might as well stay.”
“Nah, I’m good. I probably should head to the crib.”
I sighed. “You’re not good and I don’t really think it’s best for you to be alone tonight.”
“It’s three in the morning, Kari. Night’s over, I promise I’m straight. I just had to get that shit out of my system.”
“Unfortunately it’s my decision, not yours. I’ll get your stuff because you’re staying.”
“You sure?”
His eyes locked on mine. Our conversation got deep and we both admitted a lot of things which had me in a weird space, so he had to be just as emotionally exhausted, but regardless, he didn’t need to be alone.
“I’m sure but you need to shower first.” I eased off his lap and circled my finger in his direction when I was standing. “This isn’t pretty. You look like shit and you smell equally unappealing.”
That wasn’t necessarily the truth. I could smell the weed on him but the presence of his cologne was still teasing me with reminders of how we truly ended up here after that night we spent in his hotel room, naked with my pussy getting very well acquainted with his dick.
“Damn, I guess this isn’t about you making me feel better.”
“Yes it is.”
“Nah, not with you talking shit about me.”
I grinned and shrugged. “Let me go check on Avi.”
I left him and stopped by Avi’s room where I found her stirring in her crib. It was about time for a bottle, so while Omiri showered and changed, I got her fed, cuddled, and back to sleep. The entire time my mind was all over the place because the lines were blurring with us, or at least they were for me, and one thing I promised I wouldn’t do was complicate things between me and Omiri because Avi was the one who would suffer.
I kissed her cheeks then stepped into the hallway just in time to almost collide with Omiri who emerged from the bathroom, towel secured around his waist while his chest arms and shoulders were on full display, highlighting sculpted muscles and ink.
