His jaw flexed, and when he nodded, I moved my arms from around his neck and placed my hands on his face, making him smile. “Here you go with that shit.”

“How about you not worry about what I’m doing and tell me what you talked about.”

He brushed his mouth over mine and kissed me.

“It’s not worth mentioning.”

“But you’re telling me.”

“Because you can feel my moods. I could tell from how your emotional ass was looking at me.”

I grinned. “I’m not emotional. I’m in tune with my baby daddy.”

He chuckled. “Yeah aight, but bottom line is she needed something from me. I mentioned Avi, she didn’t give a fuck, and I realized it doesn’t matter.”

I frowned and stroked his cheeks through his beard. “It matters.”

“It does but not in any way that counts. She is who she is and my mother doesn’t give a fuck about me. I really didn’t care about that but a part of me wanted Avi to have her grandparents. The more I think about what that looks like, I realize that having people in your life just to fill spots isn’t worth the headache. Family is who shows up for you and we have that. I have a whole team of people who are gonna show up for you and Avi.”

“Who?”

“My Sharks family. Plus you have ol’ girl. That’s good enough. I’m done worrying about people who don’t give a fuck about me. I can’t waste that energy. I’m gonna give y’all the best of me and I’m about to giveyouthe best of this dick.”

He shifted and lifted me enough to slide me down on his hard and waiting dick . I moaned from the feel of him inside me, thick and long. This man’s dick was praiseworthy.

I dropped my hands to his shoulders when he began to move, driving into me while he guided my body up and down on him.

“You gonna give me a son?”

“No.”

He fucked me harder and asked again. “You gonna give me a son, Kari?”

I grinned and nodded, right before his mouth was on me again. With his dick in me like this, I would promise Omiri anything he wanted, but I was sure he knew that. Regardless, I meant what I said, he could have his son, if I could have his loveand loyalty. There wasn’t any doubt in my mind that he wasn’t fully committed to making sure I had both.

After we camein from the pool, we showered and dressed. While I fixed snacks for a movie night, Omiri took a call from his coach, but when I returned to the living room, his mood had shifted.

He was still on a call but his voice sounded angry which had me setting everything on the table and standing in front of him. He told whoever he was talking to that he needed to throw on some clothes and he’d be there. As soon as he had eyes on me, I noticed his jaw tighten and his expression hardened.

“Who was that?”

“Van. My father fucked up again. I have to meet her at the office to deal with him. I shouldn’t be long.”

“I’m going.”

He shook his head and pulled me between his legs, pressing his forehead against my stomach for a minute before he kissed me. I moved my hands over his head and down his neck. “Nah, I don’t want Avi in the middle of that bullshit.”

“Tell me you don’t need me and I’ll stay here.”

He frowned and stared at me for a minute. “It’s not about that. We’re not taking her.”

“I’ll call Janice. She can be here in fifteen minutes and stay with Avi. She told me she’s available twenty-four hours, and again, if you can tell me you don’t need me, then I’ll stay.”

He sighed and nodded. “Call her and see what she says.”

I stepped around him and lifted my phone while he headed to the closet. By the time he was dressed, I had gotten a hold ofJanice who said she would pack a bag and come stay with Avi until we got back. I told her just to stay overnight.

Omiri didn’t say much on the drive over but when we pulled up to an office building with Pinnacle PR on the front he laced his fingers through mine and kissed the back of my hand. “When my father gets drunk he says crazy shit. I don’t know what the hell I’m about to walk into so I apologize now if he says something disrespectful.”
