Chapter Thirty-Five

CALEB

I don’t know if it was a good idea to give Lauren the necklace or not.

Ever since I gave it to her, she’s been quiet…

too quiet. Did I speak too soon? I’m not declaring my love for her or anything…

yet. What I do know for certain though is she brings color to my life, she makes the mundane exciting, and I don’t want to lose this feeling.

The moment I laid eyes on her she stirred something inside me, she called to me like a beacon in the dark.

That obsession hasn’t lessened in the time I’ve known her, if anything it’s just gotten worse, that all-consuming need to be around her, in her presence at all times.

Lauren just has this intoxicating mix of soft and hard that calls to me, soothes my dark edges, and makes me feel like I’ve found the one person who completes me.

Fuck me. The boys would have a field day with me right now.

We spend the rest of Christmas Day cooking, laughing, and getting to know each other more.

I tell her stories about me and the guys when we were younger and she tells me stories of her and Sydney.

We don’t delve too deep into our past home lives, I guess that will come later or not at all.

It’s the best Christmas I’ve ever had, and that includes the turkey that we burnt because I was too busy eating Lauren’s cunt to care about anything else.

There’s a couple weeks left to go before school starts again so Lauren’s staying here until Sydney gets back. Lauren still goes to work and as much as it kills me watching her getting into an Uber each time, when it should be me taking her, we have to be careful.

But I’m finding that this woman is quickly becoming a risk I’m willing to take.
