“And I’m eternally grateful for that,” he replies, placing a soft kiss on my cheek.

“I still can’t believe this is all mine,” I say, glancing around the room.

“You deserve it all and so much more.”

“One day I’ll pay you back for all that you have done for me, Mr. Cavanagh, and that’s a promise.”

“Shh,” he says, placing his finger on my lips. “Did I forget to mention the ‘no payback clause’?”

“What clause?” I say, fighting a smile.

“It was in the fine print.”

“Right,” I say, laughing.

“Besides, you can’t pay someone back for a gift. It’s against the law, and I’m a lawyer, so I should know.”

“You don’t play fair,” I say, poking him in the side.

“When it comes to you, Miss Ryan, never.”

Getting up onto the tips of my toes, I whisper into his ear, “What if I said I wanted to pay you back in blowjobs?”

He throws back his head and groans. “Then we’d have a problem.”

“How ironclad is this contract?”

“A few minutes ago I would’ve said unbreakable, but now that you’ve thrown blowjobs into the equation, I’m going to have to find a loophole.”

“I figured as much,” I say, and we both laugh.

Reaching up, I slide my fingers into his hair. “I can’t wait for that either. It will be the perfect end to a perfect day.”

Our little moment is broken when John appears at our side. “I hate to break this up, but I was wondering if I could borrow the birthday girl for a few minutes.”

Logan’s eyes move to me, and I give him a tiny nod. Even though things have improved dramatically between me and John, I appreciate that he still looks out for me and gives me an out if I want it.

When Logan turns to leave us, I give his firm, round arse a sneaky pinch as he walks away.

“I’m all yours,” I say, giving John my undivided attention.

“Do you mind if we step outside for a moment?”

“Sure.”

“You look to be enjoying your night,” he says as he holds the studio door open for me.

“It’s been amazing.” My eyes take in the foyer once more as we pass through it. John reaches for the exterior glass door, and I thank him as I pass and step out into the night air.

He shoves his hands into the pockets of his dress pants when he comes to a stop beside me. “You’re probably wondering why I brought you out here.”

“Yes.”
