Gray collapsed on me afterward, sweat dampening his brow. “Okay. I’m kinda sleepy now.”
I wrapped my arms around him, my breaths rough.
“Mason?” His fingers played at the short hair at my temple.
“Yeah?”
“I really like you. Like a lot.” He pressed his face to my neck. To hide maybe? “There’s a reason why, but I don’t think you’re ready to hear it yet. So I won’t say more. But just know I kind of fibbed earlier when I said I only wanted your D.”
“What’s the reason?”
“Can’t tell you.”
“I don’t really do relationships, Gray.”
He was quiet. I thought he might’ve fallen asleep, but then he whispered, “So you don’t feel anything for me? This is just sex?”
My chest tightened.
“Actually? Forget it.” He rolled off me, a blush darkening his cheeks. “Don’t answer that. I don’t wanna know because it’ll probably make me cry, and I’m too tired to cry right now.”
“Gray, I—”
“We need to get cleaned up,” he interjected, not meeting my eyes. “Al said we’re leaving within the hour. I’m gonna take a quick nap, so wake me up when you’re done showering, and then I’ll take one.”
“Or we can take one together.” I tugged him back to my chest.
“No, thanks.” He wiggled free and faced the window, pulling the blanket over his head.
“You look like a sad little lump.”
“Can’t hear you. I’m sleeping.” He faked a snore. I knew it was fake because I’d heard his real ones.
He was clearly too embarrassed to talk about it right now. I stood from the bed and got dressed. Before I left his room though, I went over and gently moved the blanket down.
He hid his face in the pillow.
I kissed his temple, my sternum squeezing when he emitted a soft whimper. “See you soon.”

About an hour later, we walked toward a building beside the mansion that looked like a large garage. And inside? Row after row of fancy sports cars.
“Most of these are Castor’s,” Gray said, holding my hand. He was back to his bubbly self, pretending like his confession had never happened. He pointed to a car ahead of us. “That’s his baby. A Lykan Hypersport. Only seven were ever made. Cool, right?”
The sleek, black car looked like something out of theFast & Furiousmovies.
“We should talk about earlier,” I said. “I—”
“Look at that one!” Gray dragged me farther along. “Lamborghini. Such a sexy car.”
I sighed.
“You two are riding with me,” Alastair said, approaching a black SUV.
“Why can’t I drive my truck?”
His pale eyes flashed to me. “Because I said so. Now get in.”
