Mason trailed kisses along my collarbone. I healed the bite on his neck, and the puncture marks closed.

The mark I’d left on his soul would never go away though, just like the one he’d left on mine.

“You know how you said once I was like the sun?”

He nodded.

“Well, I think you’re like a lighthouse.”

“A lighthouse?” he asked.

“Yeah. For so many years, I’ve had this darkness inside me.” I pulled back to look at him. “Nothing could touch it. But you did. It’s like I was a ship lost at sea, and you guided me home.”

Mason gently grabbed my chin. “I’ll never let you get lost again.”

“And I’ll keep you warm.”

Forever.
