Page 42 of Gray
I took the plates from him and walked through the archway to the dining room. Gray bounced along beside me, setting out silverware. Raiden then brought out a platter of golden waffles and more bacon than we could eat. There were scrambled eggs too and fresh fruit. He’d cooked enough to feed a small army.
Galen and Simon took their seats at the table, and a few minutes later, the blond one I’d talked to in the hall the night before came in. Bellamy, if I recalled correctly from Gray’s talk-fest that morning. The one he’d said he liked to snuggle with.
“Good morning,” Bellamy said to me, a flirty gleam in his eyes.
“Nuh-uh. Nope.” Gray pointed at him. “Down, boy.”
“I’m not a dog.”
“Then stop acting like one.” Gray glared at him, which was more adorable than anything. “I’m watching you, Bell.”
“Knock it off, you two.” Raiden poured coffee for everyone, except for Gray, who wanted orange juice. He then sat across from me. “How was your first night at the mansion? See any ghosts?”
“Ghosts?”
Gray smiled wide before pulling his hood farther down his face and wiggling his fingers, releasing a ghostly moan. “Masooooon. I’m the ghost of Christmas ass.”
Thank fuck I hadn’t taken a drink of my coffee, otherwise Raiden would’ve been wearing it.
“There aren’t any ghosts here,” Simon said with a shake of his head. “Gray just likes scaring people.”
“Says the biggest scaredy-cat of all,” Gray responded. “Just wait, Simon. I’m gonna scare you so bad you’ll pee yourself. That’s my life’s mission.”
Simon gaped at him before turning to Galen. “Why is he so mean to me now? It’s because of that penis statue, I bet.”
Galen smirked.
“I’m glad you’re able to eat with us,” Gray said to Simon. “I thought you had to be at work super early this morning.”
“I got a call saying the shipment will be a few hours later,” Simon responded. “No biggie.”
Gray turned to me. “Simon works at an antique store. It’s super cool in there. I like to go through all the stuff. It’s how I found Dino-Pete.”
“Dino… who?”
Bellamy snorted. “Here we go.”
“Dino-Pete,” Gray repeated. “Only the most awesome dick-o-saurus ever. Simon hates him.”
“Because that thing is repulsive,” Simon said, earning a small smile from Galen. “I should’ve smashed it right when I took it out of the box.”
Gray dramatically gasped.
“Wait,” I said as something clicked in my head. “Is Dino-Pete the thing on your nightstand?”
“Yep! He’s cute, huh?”
“Enough dick talk,” Raiden said, filling his plate. “Dig in before it gets cold.”
Alastair was the last to join us. He made himself a cup of tea before sitting at the head of the table, choosing only a bowl of fruit and a few pieces of bacon.
“I thought you had six brothers,” I said to Gray after counting only four at the table. “One’s in Russia?”
Gray wiped his mouth and nodded. “Daman married an ice dragon and is living with him in his kingdom. I miss him. Castor is in Japan with his husband, Kyo. I miss him too. But he’ll be back soon.”
Dragons. That one was still hard to process. They were creatures from fantasy novels. At least most monsters could pass as human—for a while at least. Did dragons shapeshift too? What did they look like in their non-dragon forms? Did they have scales? Horns?
“Uh-oh.” Gray poked my arm. “I think I broke him.”
