Pop star reveals beloved mother’s devastating cancer diagnosis

Cole Kennedy’s mum, Orla, has cancer.

Kennedy released a statement on behalf of his family last night, after an eagle-eyed reader of The Bulletin photographed Mrs Kennedy, 52, with family members outside Ipswich Hospital, Suffolk, on Thursday (pictured).

“My mother is being treated for ovarian cancer. There are around 7,500 diagnoses of this variety of cancer in the U.K. each year. If caught early, the prognosis is good.

“My mum is not a public figure, so I ask for privacy for her, and our family, while she gets the treatment she needs.

“Although we would not have asked for publicity around such a private matter, we hope Mum’s diagnosis might encourage those at risk of ovarian cancer to have regular screening tests.”
