Chapter Nine

Brix

“Come on, little bit. You need to eat.” Elijah holds a forkful of eggs to Nora’s mouth.

I watch as he attempts to feed her, but she won’t budge. Does she regret what we did with her? We didn’t have sex, but she sucked me off, and Elijah made her come.

I close my eyes as I think about her lips and hand wrapped around my cock. So hot, so fucking amazing. I’m growing hard just thinking about what she did and what I want her to do again.

But we can’t. Not right now. Not when she needs time to breathe and think.

Nora shakes her head. “I’m not hungry,” she mumbles.

Elijah sighs, placing the fork down. She nervously looks between us, concern flashing through her eyes. Her body language didn’t seem like she regretted what we did earlier, but she’s good at hiding things.

“You aren’t making us mad,” I find myself saying.

Her eyes go wide as she looks at me.

“Nora,” I gently say.

“Y-yes?” she whispers.

I can’t help but smile. Something is definitely wrong with me for liking to make her nervous, but I don’t care. It’s not hurting her well-being.

“Do you regret getting to come and sucking me off?” I ask, leaning forward.

She shakes her head. “No!”

I lean back in my chair and look at her. “Good.”

Her cheeks go red, and she looks back at Elijah and me. Is she thinking about what we did earlier? Playing everything she loved over and over in her head?

Adjusting myself, I stand and walk into the kitchen.

“You won’t eat?” I call out.

“I’m not hungry,” she replies. “I just. My stomach is all in knots, and I’m not hungry.”

“You haven’t eaten since this morning,” Elijah says.

“I know.” She sighs. “But I just can’t. I’m sorry.”

Grabbing a baby bottle, I fill it with a chocolate protein drink and place it in a bath of warm water before turning around, keeping it hidden behind me.

“Oh, little bit. No need to cry. We’re here for you,” Elijah gently says. “We’ll figure something out.”

“Why don’t you go sit on the couch? I’ll be there in a second to hold you in my lap,” I announce, not leaving any room for argument.

“Do I really have to go sit back on the couch?” she mumbles. “I don’t like the couch.”

“Tomorrow morning, Aiden is coming by to look at your feet. If he says you’re okay to walk, then we’ll take it slow.” Elijah cups her face. “We can sit on the couch or the bed.”

“Couch.” Her cheeks go red, and she looks at the couch.

I’ll never be able to look at it the same. I’ll always think of the little noises she made as Elijah teased her with his fingers and she was sucking me off. The way she hollowed her cheeks, greedily taking me in.

I clear my throat as Elijah picks Nora up, walking to the couch and placing her there.

“I’ll be there in a minute,” I tell them, turning around to get the bottle.

After pulling it out of the water bath, I tip it, placing a drop on the back of my hand and smiling. Perfect temperature. I walk into the room, covering the bottle with my hands.

“We haven’t talked about this. If you aren’t comfortable, you tell us.” I lock eyes with Nora. “Understand?”

She nods.

“Words, baby. I need words,” I remind her.

“Yes, Pa—” She cleared her throat. “Yes, Sir.”

I long to hear the word Papa come from her mouth. I want to be her Papa for the rest of her life, showering her with love and discipline, taking care of her, and more.

But I can be patient with her.

I sit on the couch, placing the bottle on the end table where she can’t see. Patting my lap, I look at her.

“Come lay on my lap, baby. Your head resting against my chest and arm and your body laying over mine,” I explain.

She carefully follows my instructions, and I can’t help but look down at her and stare. She’s gazing back up at me, looking nervous but also calm and relaxed. Reaching over with my free hand, I grab the bottle and show it to her.

Nora’s eyes go wide as she stares at the bottle before licking her lips. She scans the bottle, the curiosity flowing through them.

“If you want to try it, we can. If you don’t want to, I’ll put it in a sippy cup for you,” I gently say.

Deep down, I hope she takes it in the bottle so I can hold her and feed her. Her eyes look at Elijah before coming back to me.

“We don’t care either way.” Elijah speaks, calm and even. “It’s up to you and what you want.”

“Can I try it?” she whispers.

A smile forms on my face. “Of course, baby.”

She snuggles her face into my face, and I pop the nipple into her mouth. It takes her a couple of seconds to figure out how to suckle, but before I know it, her eyes are closed, and she’s happily sucking the protein shake.

“Good girl,” I whisper, holding her tighter. “Our good girl.”

Her whole body relaxes against me, and I can’t help but watch her. She is so precious. It takes her no time to finish the bottle and be fully asleep in my arms.

“She gone?” Elijah asks.

I nod, holding her tight. I don’t want to let her go. I never want to let her go. I want her to stay here for the rest of her life with us, being our baby girl.

“Are we going to go after Mateo and Lainey?” he asks, sitting in front of us.

I gaze lovingly at Nora before looking up at Elijah. “Yes. I’m going to ruin their lives.”

A smile spread across Elijah’s face. “Good. Just let me know what you need.”

Nodding, I look at Nora again, unable to keep my eyes off her. I didn’t think we would find someone to share until Elijah told me he was picking up a girl, our girl. I felt uneasy, never having met Nora. But I took one look at her, and I knew.

She’s ours.

Possessiveness poured through me the night she got into our truck. We watched her run down the street, pure terror across her face, and I knew then that I would do anything to protect her.

“I’ll contact Kirk to dig up some stuff on them,” I gently speak. “Ruin their lives like they wanted to ruin hers. No one goes after our girl.”

“Our girl,” Elijah whispers.

“Yes, our girl. You were right about her.”

A cocky smile pulls at his face. “Of course I was. When have I ever been wrong?”

“When the crazy girl was trying to get into the lodge and you let her, thinking she had changed. Or when you cooked that new recipe three months ago and we both got sick after you said it was fine,” I point out. “Do I need to continue?”

“No.” His face drops. “You don’t need to continue.”

I run my free hand through her hair, Nora snuggling into my chest. “So precious.”

“I told Thorin we’re taking off for a week or two. We’ll be available for some admin stuff, but we won’t be taking shifts,” Elijah says. “He understands and wants us to have a good vacation since we apparently desperately need one .”

“We’re going to have to come up with a schedule for us.” I look at him. “We could do twelve-hour shifts. One of us nights and the other days, and we can flip. Or we can get someone to watch her, and we can take nights or days and do long hours.”

Elijah shook his head. “No.”

“No?” I raise an eyebrow.

“I was thinking of telling Thorin that we’ll take the administrative position in security.

He’s been looking for someone and has been hounding us both to take it.

I think now is a great time to do it since we have Nora,” he explains.

“It’s logical. The hours would be less since it would be two of us instead of one.

We could take her with us if we both needed to work. It makes sense.”

Thorin, the owner of Whiskey River Mountain Lodge, has been on at us to take the position, but we hadn’t wanted to. We didn’t have a reason to do it. But now… now we have Nora.

“Okay,” I agree. “We’ll tell him so he can start the process of finding our replacements.”

“I’ll tell him now.” Elijah gets up and walks off.

I look down at Nora, smiling and kissing the top of her head. “Everything is going to work out.”
