I scream, turning to face him as I place a hand over my chest. “I didn’t hear you. You are surprisingly light on your feet. Has anyone ever told you that?”
He raises an eyebrow. “You aren’t going to distract me from what I just saw. What do you think you’re doing?”
I cross my arms, huffing out a breath. “I need to get up and do something.”
“No.”
“No?” I scoff. “You can’t tell me no.”
“I just did. Aiden said no walking, so you aren’t going to.” His stare seeps into my soul.
“Please, Elijah!”
“No.” He crosses his arms over his chest.
“Please! I’m begging you. I need to get up and walk. My legs are getting restless, and I won’t be able to sleep. I need to move around. This isn’t normal. I can’t just lay around all day,” I whine.
“You can, and you will. Aiden told you not to walk on your feet for a couple of days to let them heal. We’re following his orders.”
“Please.” Tears pool in my eyes.
Elijah walks over to me, cupping my face with his hands.
“You’re going to be okay. I know it’s hard to stay in one spot and not be able to walk, but we’re going to get through this. You are strong.”
“Please,” I beg once again, my voice barely a whisper.
I need to be able to walk around and do something. I didn’t realize how much it was going to take a toll on me. I usually go around town, running errands and working, keeping myself busy, but today I have done nothing.
I push Elijah’s hands away when he shakes his head.
“Little bit,” he gently says.
“No, don’t,” I snap and sigh. “Sorry.”
Silence lingers between us as we look at each other. There is sympathy in his eyes and across his face, but he doesn’t say anything.
“What’s going on?” Brix walks into the cabin.
“Brix, please tell Elijah that I can get up and do something. I need to.” I look over at him. I get ready to push myself off the couch, but one look from Brix makes me falter.
“Don’t you dare get up,” he growls.
I stick my tongue out at him. “I need to do something.”
“You crawled a little earlier,” Elijah points out.
“You crawled? What happened? Why weren’t you sitting and relaxing?” Brix comes and sits beside to me.
“Had to pee,” I mumble.
“What was that?” he asks.
“I had to pee, all right?” I snark, looking directly into his eyes.
“Someone needs a nap,” he announces, raising an eyebrow.
Clenching my jaw, I keep my mouth shut. I don’t need anything of the sort.
“I had to take a shower and asked if she needed anything. She said no, and then as I was coming back into the living room, she was crawling. Luckily, I managed to get her to the bathroom in time,” Elijah explains.
“We don’t need to talk about it,” I mutter, my cheeks getting red.
“I think we do. Why did you wait so long?” Brix asks. “It’s not healthy to hold it in for so long.”
“Da—” I clear my throat. “Elijah and I have already talked about it.”
“Well, I wasn’t here for that, so we get to talk about it now,” Brix points out.
Crossing my arms over my chest, I glare at him.
“Before I forget, Nora wants to hold our dicks when we pee,” Elijah says.
I gasp. “I did not say that!” I yell before turning back to Brix. “I did not say that!”
“She really did. I helped her pee by singing a song and said she could watch us pee if she wanted to. Then she asked to hold our dicks,” Elijah informs Brix.
Leaning forward, my face hits the couch, and I let out a scream into the cushion.
“Whoa, baby,” Brix gently says. “No need to be embarrassed. How about we go lay down in your bed and cuddle while you fall asleep?”
I shake my head. “I don’t need a nap.” I clench my jaw, forcing every word out.
“I think you do. I need to sleep, and Elijah is going to go to work in a couple of hours,” Brix points out.
My head turns to Elijah. “You have to work overnight?” I whisper.
It shouldn’t affect me this much, but it is. I have only known them for twenty-four hours, and I’m already attached.
Elijah comes over, cupping my face. “Yeah, little Bit. We’re working some overtime today and tomorrow so we can take some time off to spend with you,” he explains. “But I’ll be back by the time you wake up.”
“But you haven’t slept at all today,” I tell him.
“I haven't, which means I’ll have to sleep when I get home. Will you be good for Papa tonight while I’m gone?”
Guilt enters my body like a freight train. Was he not able to sleep today because I was here and he couldn’t trust that I would stay on the couch?
“I’m sorry,” I blurt out.
“For what, little bit?” he asks.
“You couldn’t sleep. I’m sorry I kept you from that.”
“It’s not your fault, don’t even think about it.” He gives me a serious look. “Now, Papa is going to get you fed and then both of you are going to go to bed.”
“But… but.”
“No buts. You need your rest. Before you came here, were you getting enough sleep? Were you sleeping eight hours a night and giving yourself a break when you needed one?”
I open and close my mouth. While my job wasn’t stressful or demanding, I did tend to work too hard and make sure everything was running well. I would help other people around the office if they needed it.
“That’s what I thought. So, while you are here, we are going to make sure you get enough sleep. If we think you need a nap, you’ll have one,” Elijah says. “No arguments. Understood?”
“Yes,” I whisper.
“Yes, Daddy, or yes, Sir.”
“Yes, Sir.”
I’m not ready to call him Daddy out loud yet. I don’t know if I ever will be ready. It is a big step, and I know if I called him Daddy then Brix would want me to call him Papa.
“Soon,” Da—Elijah whispers, kissing my nose.
