Chapter Two

Nora

My eyes are wide as I stare at the man behind the wheel. His hair is short and he has stubble, like he hasn’t shaved in several days. Brown eyes pierce into my soul as we gaze at each other.

“Little bit, you’re okay,” Elijah comforts behind me. “This is Brix Burns. Both of us work as security at the Whiskey Mountain Lodge and live together.”

I continue to just stare at Brix, not knowing what else to do. I thought Elijah was the only one coming to pick me up.

“I’m not going to bite. Unless you are into that sort of thing.” Brix smiles.

“Eeeek!” I push myself further into Elijah.

“Stop messing with her. She is obviously frightened,” Elijah scolds. “Drive. We’ve got an hour to go.”

I whip my head around to look outside, trying to see if Mateo ran outside after me. But I relax into the seat when I don’t see him. Did he see me get into the car?

Brix starts to drive down the road, and I keep my head dipped the whole time, just in case someone I know is out there who will talk to Mateo. My body starts to relax even more as we continue our journey.

“Who are you hiding from?” Brix asks.

My head whips to his direction once again, and I shake my head. “We don’t need to talk about that.”

“I thought you said you weren’t in danger,” Elijah adds.

I look at him. “I’m not!” I snap.

The car goes silent, and I let out a sigh.

“I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped at you, and I shouldn’t have been rude. I just… I’m exhausted and off—” I whisper and trail off. “It was no way for me to act, and I’m sorry.”

Elijah’s strong arm wraps around my shoulders, pulling me into him. “You’re okay,” he gently says, kissing the top of my head. “Everything is going to be okay. We’re here to protect you now.”

I pull away. “You don’t have to do that. I just need some space to get away from everyone for a little bit.”

“Have you texted your boss to say that you’re taking time off?” Brix asks.

“Shit.” My eyes go wide.

“No cursing.” Elijah spanks my thigh lightly.

I glare at him. “I can curse if I want to. You aren’t my Daddy.”

Elijah grabs my chin, forcing me to continue to look at him.

“We may not be your Daddies… yet… but make no mistake, while you are at the lodge, you are under our care and rules. You are an unaccompanied sub living with us until you decide to leave. That was in the contract that you said you had already read.”

My mouth hangs open as his words penetrate my mind. Daddies? Yet? Living with them?

“Wh-what?” I whisper. “Of course I read the contract! I made sure to in case the person who called me decided to ask questions.”

A smile spread across his face. “Good girl for reading it. Maybe I should quiz you when we get to the cabin.”

“And punish her if she answers one of the questions wrong,” Brix adds.

“No,” I mumble. “No. Not happening.”

“Whoa, you’re okay.” Elijah grips the back of my neck, giving it a little squeeze. “Everything is going to be okay. We’ll talk about rules, safewords, hard limits, and all before we do anything.”

I grip my hair with my hands and shake my head. “N-no.”

“I need to grab a couple of things for Thorin before we head to the lodge. Stay in here while I get them,” Brix says, pulling into a parking lot.

I turn my head to look at a grocery store right outside of town. I lean my head against Elijah’s shoulder and let out a breath. No one I know comes out this far to do their shopping, so I’m good.

“I’ll be back in a couple of minutes. Text me if you need anything,” Brix offers. “Nora, if you need anything, let Elijah know. He’ll tell me. Don’t worry about the cost. Do you have a stuffie? Need a pacifier? Some Little clothes? You just let one of us know.”

His hand runs through my hair, and I shiver as pleasure courses through my body. My whole body stills, and I shake my head. I can’t do this, even though it’s been my fantasy for so long.

“You’re okay. You don’t need to know everything right now. If you need anything, we have stuff at the cabin. And the lodge has a shop we can buy things from as well,” Elijah gently explains, then says to Brix, “I’ll keep you updated if we need anything.”

I close my eyes and relax as Brix gets out of the truck.

“Shhh, you’re okay. Why don’t you fall asleep? I’ll wake you up when we get to the lodge,” Elijah whispers.

Without thinking, I lay my head on his lap, wrapping my left arm around his leg.

“I’ve got you. Good girl. Such a good girl for Daddy,” he coos at me.

The tension in my body disappears, my breathing evening out as I get comfortable. His hands run through my hair, and I let out a sigh of contentment.

“Such a good girl,” he purrs. “My good girl. Daddy is here. I’m not going anywhere.”

The door opens and a shushing noise meets my ears before it gently closes, but I don’t move. Feeling Elijah’s hands continue to run through my hair makes me not want to move in case he stops.

“Is she asleep?” Brix whispers.

“I think so. Poor girl is exhausted,” Elijah replies. “She sounded so scared today when she answered her phone. Her friend wasn’t very nice to her either. If you can call them her friend.”

I want to tell them she is my friend, but my lips won’t move.

“Is that why you said yes to her coming so soon?” Brix asks as he moves my legs to rest on his lap.

I am completely stretched out across the front seat now. So comfortable as Brix holds my legs and Elijah continues to run his hands through my hair. This is everything I wanted, yet I couldn’t have. I can’t deal with everyone telling me this is wrong when it feels so right.

“This isn’t safe,” Elijah mutters.

“I’m doing five under the speed limit. We’ll be careful. Like you said, she’s absolutely exhausted and needs sleep. This will give her a good nap before we feed her and put her to bed,” Brix says quietly. “Now, can you answer the question?”

“Yes, that's why I said yes so soon. I know, technically, we aren’t supposed to have anyone living with us since we are both in security, but I couldn’t help it. I know she is right for us.”

Right for them? Me? There is no way.

“You can feel the connection, can’t you?” Elijah asks.

Silence fills the cab of the car, and I find myself drifting off to sleep before I hear what Brix says in reply.

“Shh, you’re okay,” someone whispers. “Everything is okay. You’re safe.”

Gasping for breath, I shoot up from where I’m lying and scream. My hands fly out, hitting something, and I push my back into the seat. My legs swing to the side, connecting with something hard, and there’s a grunt, but I don’t pay any attention.

“Please,” I beg.

“Shhh, you’re okay,” a different person whispers. “No one is going to hurt you. Daddy is here.”

I shake my head and rock back and forth, trying to bring me some peace. Night has fallen, and I can’t see anything. Who are these people? Where am I?

Strong arms wrap around me, pulling me into a muscular chest. I kick my legs and scream, trying to get out of their hold, but they continue to hold me tighter.

“Papa is here. Shhhh, you’re okay. You’re at Whiskey Mountain Lodge. You’re safe, baby. Just take a deep breath for us.”

His arms are firmly wrapped around me, giving just enough pressure that it soothes me. I’m safe. I’m at the lodge with Brix and Elijah. My eyes go wide as a light is turned on over my head. I stare at Elijah, and he gives me a small smile.

Did they just call themselves Daddy and Papa?

“You’re okay. Sorry for scaring you. You were having a nightmare as we pulled into our parking spot, and it woke you up.” Elijah takes my hand and gives it a squeeze. “You’re okay, though. Let’s get you inside and feed you something.”

They don’t wait for my reply as Brix turns me around and hauls me into his arms. I wrap my legs around his waist as he walks to the cabin. I try to look at it, but I am met with a faint outline.

“You can see it tomorrow when it’s light,” he gently says. “Promise.”

I lay my head on his warm chest and relax as he walks into a warm cabin.

Without moving, I move my eyes to look around, taking in everything or the lack of things.

It’s bare…super bare, with the minimum couch, TV, and coffee table.

There are no pictures or paintings on the walls as he walks in further.

I don’t know what I was expecting, but this wasn’t it.

“Let’s go get some food in your tummy.” Brix pats my back. “Do you want cereal, French toast, chicken, pasta, or some eggs?”

“Milk?” I whisper.

“You need to eat something else with it, baby,” Brix croons, placing me on the counter.

“Chocolate milk?” I look at him.

“You can have chocolate milk, baby, but you need to eat something,” he repeats.

I grumble under my breath, not wanting to eat anything.

“How about some buttered noodles?” Elijah suggests as he walks into the kitchen. “Then you can have chocolate milk as you fall asleep.”

“Otay,” I whisper.

Elijah walks around the kitchen, getting my buttered noodles as Brix stands in front of me, his arms on either side of me, almost like he is making sure I don’t fall off the kitchen counter.

“Are you okay?” I whisper, looking at Brix.

We make eye contact, but I quickly look away. His stare makes me want to tell him everything and anything. Makes me squirm in my seat until he looks away.

Just by us looking each other in the eyes.

“Why do you ask that?” he asks.

“Yo-You are st-standing in front of m-me,” I stutter, getting all nervous.

“Just making sure you’re safe. I don’t know how tired you are, and I don’t want you slipping off.”

I search his face. I was right. He is trying to keep me safe, but why? I’m nothing to him.

“Here you are.” Elijah stands beside Brix, holding a bowl. “Why don’t you feed her while I get the chocolate milk ready?”

Brix takes the noodles, forking some before placing it against his lip. “Just perfect.”

“I would never make it too hot for our little bit,” Elijah mumbles before turning to me. “Do you want it in a cup, sippy cup, or bottle?”

My mouth hangs open as he says bottle. How do they know?

“You said in your application that you are a Little. No need to feel embarrassed. If you want a bottle, you can have one,” Elijah gently says.

“I—” I take a deep breath. I don’t know how to answer him.

I’ve never used a bottle before but have always fantasized about using one.

It was hard to have any Little things when Mateo or Lainey would come into my apartment at any time.

I couldn’t have things lying around anywhere, not when they looked through my cupboards.

And now, thinking about it, I’m realizing just how much they were controlling my life, making sure it was going their way.

How was I so blind to it all?

“I’ll surprise you. If you don’t like it, you can tell me and we’ll change it,” Elijah announces before walking off.

“Open up for Papa,” Brix says.

Tears pool in my eyes, and I press my hands against his chest. He drops the bowl, not expecting me to push him away. The bowl shatters when it hits the floor. Before I can even fully think through what I’m doing, I hop off the counter and land right on the broken pieces.
