“Good pussy.”
I stood, moving to straddle his lap.
“Wow, out of the billions of women in the world, my pussy is the best? Skeeter, you really know how to make a girl swoon.”
“Don’t let it go to your head. I said it was good, not the best,” he said bluntly, his hands sliding around me to rest on my ass. “What the fuck am I going to do with you?”
“Just call me a good girl and leave it at that. I think I handled today pretty well.”
“You’re having a breakdown because you murdered someone, in case you forgot,” he said with a scowl. “You’re not a good girl. You blew my boss and have now killed someone for him.”
“Wrong. I blew your boss and then agreed to extract information out of Liam for him. There was no murder on thecards,” I laughed nervously. “Seriously, do you think Slash will fuck me over?”
He was quiet for a minute before leaning back to meet my gaze. “Honestly? Yeah. He wants you gone, Aurora. Don’t trust him.”
“I didn’t think you guys believed in ratting to the cops?”
“We don’t. Things conveniently get left lying around for them though when it benefits us,” he answered. “I’ll have to do some digging about Liam’s father. Even if he abandoned Liam, that doesn’t mean he won’t come looking for him eventually.”
“So we have to kill him too?” I asked weakly, my stomach twisting.
How could we kill a cop without being noticed? Did I kill Liam to keep everyone safe, just to doom us all to prison anyway?
“There’s nowe. I’ll handle it.”
“I made this mess,” I pointed out, but he shook his head.
“No, Slash made this fucking mess. If he asks you to help him deal with the fallout of this, tell me. He’ll only keep you safe until you serve no purpose. You’ll end up with a shitload of crimes piled up against you.”
“Wouldn’t he be worried I’d tell the cops the truth?”
“You’d lose a tongue faster than the court case would take,” he said seriously. “I’m so pissed that you got involved with this shit, and you really can’t tell anyone about it. Not Holloway’s boys, his mother, no one.”
I scoffed. “Trust me, I don’t intend on telling Caden.”
“Like how you didn’t intend on killing anyone today?” he asked flatly, making me tense.
“That’s different.”
“Hardly. Things just seem to happen when you’re around, and as much as you’re good at keeping your bad bitch mask in place, you still break,” he warned, his fingers sliding up mythroat to grasp my jaw almost painfully. “You wanted to be part of something? You got your wish. Now, you’re chained to a bunch of sins between you, me, and the devil.”
“Slash isn’t really the devil, he’s just an asshole on a power trip,” I argued, his fingers tightening.
“That’s where you’re wrong. Slash could turn your life upside down and inside out within seconds, just because he feels like it. You need to stay away from him no matter what he offers you. Making deals with the devil never ends well for the sinner. You won’t get loyalty from him, only torment and betrayal. He doesn’t give a shit about you, you’re a pawn and a current convenience. He’ll use you like a puppet until he can’t use you anymore.”
I blew out a shaky breath, nodding as he finally released his bruising grip. “Okay. I’ll stay away from him.”
“Good. If you’re ever in a situation where you need help, call me, not Slash,” he said firmly, wrapping his arms around me and standing. “It’s been a long night. Let’s go to bed. If you don’t sleep, you’ll struggle to contain your emotions even more tomorrow. You have to act like nothing happened.”
“I’m not tired,” I protested, a cruel chuckle leaving him as he flipped off the lights on his way out of the kitchen.
“Trust me, you’re about to be. I’m not done being pissed at you.”
CHAPTER TWO
RORY
Iwoke up in a panic on my stomach, a body pinning me down and causing a scream to leave me. I tried to escape but couldn’t, noticing I was drenched in sweat and crying. Someone was moving inside me, their body pressed firmly to my back to stop me from moving, the pillow under me blocking most of my noises.
