“Could be better. Maybe we should do that again to check,” he mumbled against my neck, his lips trailing over the tender skin from where he’d bitten me.
There was a bang on the front door, panic filling me. Was it one of the guys?
It wasn’t like I’d cheated on them, I was casual with them too, but why had it felt like that?
Slash cursed and got to his feet, grabbing some boxers and sweats before going to check, and I quickly got dressed and ran into the bathroom, locking the door so I could clean up while I hid.
Why the fuck was I hiding?
“Where the fuck is she?” Skeeter’s voice snapped, making me wince.
How did I explain why I was here? It was barely seven in the fucking morning.
“What are you doing here?” Slash demanded as footsteps stomped through the house, and I jumped when the door handle rattled before there was a bang on it.
“Aurora?”
He’d only kick the door down if I stayed quiet, so I flushed the toilet and unlocked the door, opening it with a frown. “Yes?”
Relief washed over him at seeing me in one piece, and he yanked me closer to inspect me.
“What did he do to you?” he asked in a surprisingly gentle tone.
“Nothing, why?”
“Caden said you went for a walk and he didn’t know where you were, so I tracked your phone. You’ve been here for hours. I thought he’d kidnapped you,” he hissed.
Slash sighed, managing to look a little bit embarrassed. “I can explain that. I apparently got really fucking drunk and showed up at her house in the middle of the night. She drove me home. I was about to make some coffee so I could take her home.”
Skeeter looked at me to confirm, and I nodded. “I drove his car and didn’t have shoes or my keys, so when he passed out, I was kind of stuck here.”
“Why didn’t you call me?” he demanded, and I shrugged.
“He could barely stand. I’m pretty sure I’m capable of fighting off someone who’sthatdrunk.”
“You spent the night?”
“I glared at him for the past five hours while he slept, yes,” I answered, his attention going back to Slash.
“Why can’t you leave her the fuck alone? Haven’t you done enough?”
“We’re good. Right, Donovan? Had a nice long chat this morning. We can coexist without either of us dying,” Slash smirked, walking towards the kitchen. “Going forward, we’re going to be friends.”
“Like fuck,” Skeeter growled, grabbing my hoodie and yanking it up to show my bruise. “Did you fucking do this to her?Holloway said she won’t tell him who, but I’d bet money on it being you.”
I tried to pull back, but he wouldn’t let go, and Slash looked like he wanted to be sick.
“I don’t think I did. When did that happen?”
“It wasn’t Slash,” I gritted out, forcing my hoodie down to cover the bruise. “I told Caden I got in a fight. I handled it.”
“Did you fight a brick wall? That’s a serious bruise,” Slash muttered, still looking at me with uncertainty.
“No, just a bitch fight, nothing serious. I’m glad we’re besties now, bossman. I’ll send your friendship bracelet in the mail,” I scowled as I stalked past, leaving Skeeter no choice but to follow me as he threatened Slash one more time on his way out.
I climbed into the passenger seat of the McLaren, having two seconds of silence before Skeeter got behind the wheel and turned to me, his voice low. “What did he do this time?”
“Nothing. He was really drunk, that’s all. Why are you so paranoid? I’m fine.”
