“I’ve tried. You know what he’s like.”
“You’ve never been into guys before, right? Why are you so calm about all of this?”
“I don’t think kissing boys is a sin that’s going to damn me to hell and ruin my chances of ruling my social circle,” I said dryly, being hyper aware of her thigh pressing against mine. “I also don’t have Karen as a parent. My dad’s a dick, but he doesn’t really give a fuck what I do. If I wanted to take a dick up the ass, it really isn’t anyone else’s business. I’ve never thought about it before though.”
I didn’t miss the way her body leaned into me a little more, her voice sounding almost breathless. “You’d be okay with that?”
“If it feels good, then I’m fine with it,” I shrugged, taking a bite of pizza to avoid reaching over and hauling her into my damn lap. She’d allowed it outside, but I had a feeling it would be different now.
“Do you want me to get you off to return the favor?” she asked randomly, and I did well not to choke on my food at the instant mental image.
“Do I want you to? Absolutely. Do you have to? No. I didn’t do that to get anything in return, I just did it because I wanted to make you feel good. It wasn’t about sex, it was simply about you,” I explained, her face softening.
“That’s not fair to you.”
“It’s not supposed to be. I’ve groveled with words and it’s not enough, so I think I can suffer through blue balls for a while and grovel more by giving you a bunch of orgasms. You might never forgive me, but at least if you’re getting off regularly, you shouldn’t feel the need to stab me,” I joked, a soft snort of amusement leaving her.
“Ah, so this is a survival tactic.”
“Definitely,” I grinned, my gaze flicking towards the door as Lukas walked in and sat on her other side, silently reaching for some pizza before getting comfortable.
Rory surprised me when she gave me a quick kiss on the cheek before leaning back against Lukas and draping her legs over my lap. Lukas seemed just as surprised by her touch, and he lifted an arm for her to curl into him more.
We sat like that for hours as we talked about school and other random things as we let movies play in the background, and as much as I hated going to bed alone, I was relieved when I noticed Rory follow Lukas into his.
If they could heal from their broken history, then anything was possible.
Maybe she’d be able to help him with his struggles too.
CHAPTER SEVEN
RORY
Lukas fidgeted as we got ready for bed, and I caught him glaring at me when I emerged from the bathroom in one of Skeeter’s shirts. I slept better in them, so he’d have to get over it.
Jensen’s bedroom was next to this one, and I almost felt bad for not sleeping in there with him after what we’d done by the pool.
I didn’t owe him anything, and I was surprised that he was the one enforcing that.
“You want to talk about it?” I asked as Lukas stripped down to his boxers a little more aggressively than needed, his eyes flashing up to mine.
“About what?”
“Whatever’s got you so annoyed. If it’s about Jensen?—”
“Jesus, let this shit go,” he spat, getting tangled in his shirt and letting out a growl.
“Stop,” I said gently, approaching him and pulling it over his head, hesitating before stepping against him and sliding my arms around his waist. He froze, needing a minute to register what I was doing, but then his arms went around me and held me tightly against him, his bare chest warm against my cheek.
“I don’t know what I’m feeling,” he admitted, tightening his hold on me when I went to move back. “He’s my best friend. Things are getting weird and I don’t like it.” It was obvious he didn’t want me to look at him while we talked, so I stood there with my face in his chest, just letting him vent. “I’ve never been attracted to him before, but lately, it’s like things are different. The only thing I hated about kissing him was the fact that I liked it. What’s wrong with me?”
I drew circles on his lower back with my fingers, hoping it soothed him.
“Nothing’s wrong with you. We can’t help who we fall for.”
“But it’sJensen.”
“So? I haven’t known him as long as you, but I fell hard for him, so I know how easy it is.”
