“Sylvester,” I managed to choke out as my hands came up to grip his forearms. “Let go.”
“Now, you listen here. You ran. I chased you. It was fun. But play time is over, so you’re going to get in that car with me and you’re going to talk. Understand?”
“Fuck you,” I groaned, trying to pull his arm off me and his spine chilling chuckle filled the silence.
“Wrong answer, princess,” he squeezed my throat and I dug my nails into his forearm with wide, desperate eyes—barely breathing.
My throat tightened and my lungs burned as I fought back tears at the gut wrenching thought of dying here tonight. My legs went numb as my eyelids grew heavy. Soon enough, my vision blurred and all I could see were his white teeth as a frightening grin played on his lips. No…
My trembling fingers wrapped around the knife strapped to my thigh and I yanked it out, stabbing it into the side of his throat.
A heap of oxygen filled my lungs within a matter of seconds when he stumbled back. I coughed in relief as I fell to my knees—my hands hovering near my throat.
“Fuck!” he growled, pressing the palm of his hand to his neck. My heart hammered in my chest as fear pulsed through every vein in my body.
I hurried away from him, watching him stumble toward me.
“Oh my God—sir, do you need help?” A brunette rushed to Sylvester.
Adrenaline forced my feet to move and I found myself back inside the club, pushing the dancing bodies. I lifted my head, seeing Jordan hug Silvia in the distance before he was walking in my direction.I need to get out of here…
CHAPTER 9
Nirah
“THE CLUB’S PACKED, don’t you think?” London asked as we headed to our tables next to each other.
“I wonder why,” I mused, making her chuckle.
“I’m sure they heard about your magical little body,” she teased, and I rolled my eyes.
“Or about the freakishly flexible girl.”
“Freakishly?” she narrowed her eyes at me, and I couldn’t help but laugh. “Now, that’s just cold,” she whispered as we separated to serve our tables.
After my altercation with Sylvester last night, I put on a brave face and acted normal as Jordan drove me home. Thankfully, he didn’t suspect anything.
I handed the three guys their drinks, and Giovanni took a sip before stopping me.
“Bella, you mind if I have a seat at the bar?” he asked, and I looked over.
“Sure,” I nodded. “Come on.”
Standing behind the bar, I placed my hands down on the countertop in front of him.
“Please, don’t tell me you’re one of those men who fall in love and become extremely clingy.”
He smiled. “I’m one of those men who fall in love and want to spend every waking moment with her.”
“So…” I trailed off. “Clingy?” I smiled, and he chuckled. He gestured his drink toward me—in confirmation—and took a sip. “You’re cute, Gio.”
My smile immediately faded as Antonio walked up to the bar with the blonde woman I saw him with last night.
He pulled the bar stool out for her—next to Giovanni—and she sat down, thanking him. He sat down beside her, and in response, my heart hammered in uncertainty.
“Excuse me,” I smiled at Giovanni, who simply nodded, waving me off.Why does the club have to be so full tonight?
With a deep breath in, I forced my most polite smile. “What can I get you?” I asked, shifting my eyes between them, and Antonio nodded toward the woman.
