Kai

" G O FUCKING FASTER!" Ridge shouts from the backseat, immediately heightening the headache forming between my brows. Focusing on the road is hard enough when I'm going twenty over the speed limit without that jackass attempting to rupture my eardrum.

To my utter shock, Henry snaps back at Ridge. "Maybe you should have taken the other car!"

I risk our lives to glance over at my fiancé in the passenger seat. The tears streaming down his face and the blood dripping between his clenched fists scare the hell out of me.

"Kai, please," Trevor croaks, making me glance at his pale face in the mirror. Have we all swapped roles? "Just get us there."

I nod and clench my teeth as I swerve, narrowly missing another damn car. Speed driving is absolutely not my forte. I might be panicking a little. Just a couple more minutes , I remind myself.

I need to get us there. That's my only job right now. What would make this easier is if the others were more predictable, but I get it. Fucking christ. Nina's been taken again.

How could this have happened?!

"Focus, Kai!" Trev snaps, and I blink, pulling myself out of my downward spiral. It's painful and horrible to do, but I push everything out of my mind except the road ahead of me.

It doesn't work as I basically drift us into our neighborhood. Police cars line the streets, flashing lights try to blind me, and officers rush from house to house hopefully asking if they've seen Nina.

People with badges attempt to stop my pursuit, but they'll quickly realize that nothing will keep us from our woman. Adam comes to our rescue, shouting and making the officers move, allowing me to pull into our driveway.

I don't have the car in park before the other three jump out and I can't blame them. Hating my role of driving even more now, I unbuckle and rush around the hood of the car just as Will starts explaining.

Will's face is beet red, and his eyes are absolutely wild . "She went in to use the bathroom. Not four minutes later, a dog started barking toward the back of the fence. We were going to ignore it until the animal started attacking the fucking fence."

"Why the hell wouldn't you leave it alone?!" Ridge looks angry, and I hope he doesn't say anything he can't take back.

Will's jaw clenches. "Meg ran back there, automatically assuming something was happening to Nina. Adam and I rushed after her because there was no way we were letting her near an aggressive dog."

Trevor steps forward, eye blazing. "Then what happened?"

"It saw us, snarled and hunched its back. We were frozen, knowing not to provoke it any further."

"So," I grind out, "while you were distracted by a feral dog, Nina was kidnapped?"

Will gulps. "Yes."

Adam runs toward us, waving his phone. "Cameras caught a male with black shaggy hair, all black outfit carrying Nina out the front door and escaping out back on the other side of the fence! Disappeared into the woods back there."

Without much thought, I turn on my heel and bolt, but before I can make it more than four strides, Will tackles me. "Absolutely not!" he growls, pinning me to the ground. "He's dangerous."

"Exactly!" Blood roars through my veins. The sheer terror of what could be happening to my girl pumps adrenaline through me. "I have to find her!"

Will takes some weight off of my back. " We have to find her. And you need to still be in one piece when we do, son. Please. Think of Nina."

I am thinking of Nina! Will makes a good point though. With a nod and tense understanding, he helps me to my feet. My back twinges. Fuck, he's like a brick shit house.

Taking a deep breath, I try to center myself again and think rationally. When I look around the yard, my gut clenches and emotions threaten to take over again.

"It's just like last time..." I murmur, my throat tight with so much despair I could fucking choke on it.

Ridge is demanding answers from a man in a suit by the road. Henry's holding Meg, and Trevor's next door, talking to a bald guy in a tank top. And here I am, standing with Will, trying not to get lost in the past.

This is the present, and Nina's not allowed to be missing much longer.

Get ready, bastard . We're older now, and our grip on our woman is much fucking stronger. Here we come .
