“You’ve already done like five hundred of those. You gonna

stop anytime today?” Charlie asks.

“Six hundred and seven… and why should I? Eight….”

Working out is the only way I can relieve some of this

frustration. These last six weeks have been the longest of my fucking life. I

can’t tell the last time I had a decent night’s sleep. There’s been no Casey,

no sex, and on top of that, I’ve had to put up with Shae. Not to mention my

mother’s constant nagging about a wedding. If she thinks I’m going to marry

Shae, she has another think coming; Casey is the only woman I’m marrying. I’d

sell my soul to have her back. She invades my thoughts every minute of every

day. I think about her smile, her laugh…the way her eyes twinkle when she

teases me. Hell, I even miss the way she argues with me. Then there’s the cute

little way she says “huh” when she’s thinking about something. And her body… Holy

hell, I miss her body. I miss her smell; her soft, silky skin; her perfect,

full breasts and their pretty pink nipples. I miss the way she screams my name

when she comes. Fuck… 28… 29… 30.

“Sam called.”

I drop the barbell in the holder and sit up. Ignoring the

two ladies who were obviously enjoying the show, I give Charlie my undivided

attention. He throws me a towel and the women in the corner giggle as I begin

wiping down my sweaty chest.

“Casey’s got a shadow,” he continues.

“What?”

“Seems to be one of Stone’s. He follows her around, makes

notes.”

“They’re documenting her movements. He’s planning something.

Fuck! I thought he would leave her alone since….”

“Ethan, anyone who saw you two together could tell. She

won’t be safe until we get rid of him.”

“You’re right.”

A shadow. I wonder if he’s the one I’ve been sensing all

along. Has he been doing something to mask himself? Is that even possible?

“What do you want to do about the shadow?”

“Nothing yet. When he stops, that’s when we need to worry.

Put someone on him. I want to know where he goes when he leaves her. He has to

report back to Stone… and check him out.”

“Got it.”
