***Ethan***

She opens the bedroom door before I even knock. I let my

gaze slide over her from head to toe, marveling at the fact that this gorgeous

woman is mine. Her hair is up, a few tendrils framing her face. The dress fits

to perfection, but all I want to do is rip it from her body. Will her beauty

ever not leave me breathless?

“Oh… fuck!”

She giggles, twirling to show off her outfit. “I take it you

love the dress.”

“I love the woman in the dress.” Moving into the room, I

kick the door closed and pull her into my arms. “As usual, you smell divine.”

“I’m not even wearing perfume.”

“Sweetheart, your natural scent surpasses anything man could

ever put in a bottle.”

Her smile fades, and she snakes her arms around my neck, her

body molding to mine as she leans in.

“Shut up and kiss me.”

“My pleasure.”

I cover her lips, relishing in the sound of her soft moan.

Instantly, she parts her lips, granting me entrance. I gladly accept her sweet

offering, tasting every area my tongue can reach. Her arms tighten around my neck,

and I hold her to me while my free hand roams under her dress. I groan in

frustration when my fingers don’t meet flesh.

“Stockings?”

“That’s right, Sheriff. No hanky-panky tonight.”

“What about after?”

“After? Oh, I’m planning on doing all kinds of naughty

things to you after.”

My heart beats faster, and my dick hardens at the thought of

what’s to come.

“Oh, baby… How am I ever going to get through dinner?”

Her playful manner disappears, and she sighs, moving away to

sit on the edge of the bed.

“What’s wrong?” I ask.

“‘Baby.’”

Oh, fuck. I rush to the bed, falling to my knees before her.

“I’m sorry—”

“It’s not you. We passed by a baby store today and I just

completely lost it.”

“Why didn’t you call me?”

“I didn’t want to bother you with my hysterics.”

“You’re never a bother.”

“I’m okay. I’ll be okay.”

Sitting next to her, I take her hand in mine. “Do you think you

might want to try again?”

“You mean… a baby?”

I nod slowly.

“Do you?” she asks quietly.

“Yes, but whenever you’re ready.”

“I just need some time.”

“We have all the time in the world.”

“I need to re-fill my prescription. Not that it worked

before. Must be your super-wolf sperm.”

She smiles and taps my shoulder with hers. I return her

smile, sliding my hand around her waist.

“Must be. You think you could be… now?”

“I don’t think so. Before, I felt it. I think it

happened the day of your barbecue. I kept feeling this weird tingling in my

tummy.”

“And you almost fainted.”

“Is that normal? Feeling it right away?”

“No. Then again, we’re not normal, sweetheart.”

“You know, every time I saw you after that, even as Sheriff,

the tingling would return. Now I think they were trying to talk to me… or you.”

“Maybe. That night I came to you as Sheriff, and you said

you had a secret, is that what you were going to tell me?”

“Yeah, but you ran off before I could.”

“We got a tip on Stone and had to hurry before we lost him.

We did, though, so”—I shrug—“didn’t really matter.”

And then, I realize something. Shit. I should have known.

“Oh, fuck.”

“What is it?”

“You said you had a weird feeling when I came around. Whenever

I was with you, I would sense this other presence but could never figure out

who it was. Now I know. It was our babies.”

She doesn’t respond, just lays her head on my shoulder in

quiet contemplation. I can’t believe I didn’t figure it out until now. I’m such

an idiot. We sit there for God knows how long before she nudges me.

“We should go, or we’ll be late.”

“You’re right. But first, I have something for you.”

I remove the small box from my jacket pocket, containing

matching earrings to the necklace I’d given her the night of the fundraiser.

“You’ve given me more than enough today.”

“Indulge me.”

She opens the box and stares down at its contents in amazement.

“They’re beautiful. Thank you.”

“They go with this.”

I remove the necklace from my pocket and clasp it around her

neck. Then, I help her with the earrings.

“I’m all sparkly.” She smiles up at me.

“You sparkle more than any jewel in this world.”

“Aren’t you just full of compliments tonight?”

“I still can’t believe that you’re mine,” I say as I stroke

her cheek.

“Well, I am. So get used to it, Sheriff.”
