Page 52 of Accidental Theirs (Alpha Billionaire Daddies #6)
Chapter Forty-Eight
OLIVIA
I hum happily as I walk into the doctor’s office with Damien, and Sebastian and Dominic follow after me. I know it’s unorthodox to bring all three of your baby daddies to your gender reveal ultrasound, but I don’t care.
I get plenty of looks in the waiting room, but I don’t care about that either.
Luckily, the doctor’s office is discreet and doesn’t ask any questions.
Sebastian and Dominic crowd around me while Damien sits in the chair next to me.
“Can’t wait to see how little bean has grown,” Sebastian says, and I give him a warm smile.
I’ll never forget him coming to my first ultrasounds, how affected he’d been.
“I’ve never seen one,” Damien says.
Dominic shrugs. “I saw my sister’s baby ultrasound. I couldn’t really see anything.”
I chuckle. “I was only pretending to see the bean at first, it took me a minute.”
“I still have the pictures on my fridge. ”
I give Sebastian a bright smile as the ultrasound tech comes in, only reacting slightly to the three men in the room.
“Are you sure you’re comfortable with this many visitors?”
I nod.
She lets it go, and I’m grateful. “Very well. Ready to find out what you’re having?”
“Yes, please!”
“Let’s see… There’s the heartbeat,” she says, and all three men stare at the screen. “And there’s a face, and ooh... It’s a little girl.”
Excitement rushes through me. “A little girl? Really?”
“A big one,” she says, and then frowns.
I frown back, worried. “What do you mean? Is that bad?”
“Let me get the doctor for you.” She rushes out, and Damien reaches over to rub my arm.
“It's going to be okay, sweetheart.”
His voice is low and comforting, but my stomach aches.
I put my hand to it and feel her jumping around in there.
I put his hand on my stomach.
His eyes light up. “She’s moving around.”
“Like a soccer player,” Sebastian pipes up and I laugh.
Dominic is just staring at the ultrasound, his brown eyes wet.
“Dom? Are you okay?”
He blinks and tears run down his face. “We’re going to have a little girl.”
“We are.” Tears well in my eyes too, threatening to spill, but Damien wipes them away.
The doctor comes in, and we all give him full attention.
“There’s a slight problem. The baby may be too big to deliver naturally given your small frame.”
“What does that mean?” Damien asks.
“It means she may have to have surgery. A Caesarian section. ”
“Where they cut me open? No, thanks. Can I try to deliver naturally?”
Dominic takes my hand.
The doctor nods. “That’s the plan. But if things go sideways...”
“Then of course, I’ll do the surgery.” I’m firm on this, but I want a chance to give birth to my baby girl on my own. “If it’s what’s best for the baby...”
“It’s what’s best for you, too. Ms. Carter. There could be complications if we don’t plan ahead.”
“I was a c-section baby, and I turned out fine,” Sebastian says, and I smile at him gratefully for trying to lighten the mood.
The ultrasound tech returns with ultrasound pictures, and I look down at my baby’s blurry face.
Who will she look like? Will she have Dominic’s soulful brown eyes? Sebastian’s grin? Damien’s strong nose?
I don’t care who the father is, I love them all, but I’m curious.
We all move into Damien’s mansion, and each of the guys picks out a room, but we’re almost always in the master bedroom.
I still can’t look at them without panting in heat, so we spend a lot of time in the bedroom.
Carter Holdings is holding up fine, thanks to Sebastian’s undercover efforts. I love him all the more for it.
I need to hire a new assistant, but I met a lovely young lady named Gretchen that might take the spot. Maybe we can even be friends.
When I’m ready.
I visit Marie in prison from time to time. I pressed charges, and she received a two-year sentence. Roland, on the other hand? Twenty-five years for assault with a deadly weapon. I don’t think I’ll be visiting him .
It’s been four months, and I’m late and miserable.
“I’m almost at forty-two weeks, can’t they just take her?”
“You’re the one who wanted a natural birth,” Damien points out, and I glare at him.
“You’ve been snappy all week.” Dominic pets my hair.
I’m lying on them on the couch, and we’re watching the reality television they all claim to hate.
Sebastian, engrossed in the show, pipes up, “Yeah, you’ve been downright mean. What’s going on?”
Sebastian takes his ankle in my hand possessively, and it calms me down a little.
“Just frustrated, I guess. I want this little girl out of me.”
“Are we settled on Chloe Anna?” Damien asks.
“I thought we were going for Jacqueline Leah,” Dominic argues.
“I still think Victoria is better. We could call her Tory,” Sebastian puts in his two cents.
“I don’t care what her name is, I just want her out of here,” I grumble, and as if she heard me, she kicks me hard, and then a sharp pain rushes through me. “Ow.”
“Ow? What’s ow?” Dominic is already struggling to get up from the middle with my butt in his lap.
I slowly stand up, holding the bottom of my stomach as a wave of pain wraps around my ribs.
“It hurts…”
As if on cue, water gushes from me, wetting my thighs and splashing on the floor.
“That’s your water breaking…” Sebastian stares at me with a panicked look.
“Get me to a hospital!” I yell, and suddenly all of them are on their feet, rushing around.
Damien gets my overnight bag, and Sebastian scoops me up.
Dominic follows with the keys, the only one remembering, and we pile into two separate cars, me riding with Sebastian in the minivan Damien bought me.
We arrive at the hospital in a rush, and Sebastian and I get there first.
He rushes me inside and hands me off to a tech.
They take me to the back, and I don’t see any of them for a while.
All the world is made of pain. There’s nothing else, and I scream for drugs or an epidural as they take me back.
“I’m so sorry, Ms. Carter, it’s too late. The baby is crowning.”
So, I’m going to have to do this alone and without drugs?
“I need my boyfriends.”
“Your... boyfriends ?” the nurse asks.
“Yes! They’re outside, please.”
She quirks an eyebrow but goes quickly outside, and then my three boys come in, looking panicked.
“Are you all right, little girl?” Sebastian gets to me first, planting a kiss on my forehead.
“We were worried sick about you,” Damien says next, taking my hand and sitting next to my bed.
Dominic stands at the edge of my bed, but he puts a comforting hand on my leg.
“I'm okay, just a little flustered. And oh fuck, here comes another one.” I gasp as pain rips through me and squeeze the holy shit out of Damien’s hand.
He winces but doesn’t protest. Bless him.
The doctor comes in, and everything else is a blur.
I just want to push, but they won’t let me.
My cervix won’t dilate past five, no matter what I do, no matter how hard I want it to.
And they don’t call it labor for nothing.
“Rush her to the OR,” the doctor finally says. “We have to get this baby out, Ms. Carter, I’m sorry. ”
“I don’t care, I just need her out," I whine, and Damien kisses my cheek.
“It's going to be okay, sweetheart.”
His words ring in my ears as they take me away, but I shout out for him, pulling Damien with me.
“He can be in the room, right?” I ask in a panicked voice. “I don’t want to be alone.”
I hope the other two don’t take this as any kind of sign, Damien was just closer.
But they don’t seem angry as they tell me goodbye, kissing me softly.
We’re rushed to the back and as they numb me up, I squeeze Damien’s hand, looking up at him with wide eyes.
“Tell me again.”
“Tell you what again, sweetheart?”
“Tell me it’s going to be okay.”
“It’s going to be okay. Everything’s going to be okay. You’ve got us.”
I do. I do have them, and everything’s fine... as long as Chloe gets here safely.
When I hear her crying, I burst into tears.
They put her on my stomach, all covered in gore, but she’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
Nine pounds and four ounces, my big strong girl.
“Chloe,” I breathe, but it’s the last thing I’m able to say before something drains from my body. It’s like I can’t think, I’m fading out.
I wake back up here and there, remembering Dominic’s panicked brown eyes, Damien’s hand squeezing mine, Sebastian’s low tone as he read to me.
When I wake up, the doctors are standing over me, looking down at me in relief.
“She's awake.”
They give me some kind of test, and I’m confused at first .
“You’re at the hospital, Ms. Carter. We’re just doing a few tests.”
When Sebastian, Dominic, and Damien are finally able to visit, I burst into tears.
“Where’s Chloe?” I ask, confused and upset.
“She’s okay. She’s in the nursery.”
“Can I see her? How long was I out for?” Damien nods quickly, heading to get the nurse.
“You’ve been asleep for days,” Dominic says in a raspy voice and when I look up at him, he’s disheveled and unshaven.
I’m not surprised; I’m sure he’s been worried sick.
Damien returns with Chloe in his arms and suddenly nothing else matters, and I’m sobbing looking down at her.
“She’s here. We’re finally a family.”
