Chapter Thirty-Eight

OLIVIA

I feel better after my night with Dominic, at least about our future.

He doesn’t seem as angry and jealous as I thought he’d be.

It’s almost like... he’s coming around to the idea of sharing me.

Is that what I want? I love his possessive streak, but it comes out during sex, anyway, so it’s not like it’ll be gone forever.

But is Dominic the one I want?

I can’t think. I’m so sexually frustrated it’s insane.

It’s been almost a week since Dominic and I were together, and I haven’t even had time to take matters into my own hands. Or fingers, so to speak.

I’ve been working overtime trying to find the funds we need to keep Titan off our ass. I’ve started fundraisers, reached out to investors, but I’m still short.

There’s just not enough money .

I have a trust fund that’s worth half a million dollars, but I’d need five times that to save Carter Holdings.

How did this happen? How did my mother let it happen ?

God, I wish I could speak to her. Talk to her and have her hug me just one more time.

I sigh shakily, and Marie knocks on the door.

“You going to lunch today? You know the baby needs to eat.”

I sigh. I’ve been skipping lunch all week.

“I know. You’re right. Let’s go down to the cafeteria.”

I stand up, and Marie wrinkles her nose. “The cafeteria gave you food poisoning.”

“I should have known better than to eat scallops from there.”

She snorts out a laugh and takes my elbow. “I’ll take you to Yelena’s. My treat.”

My eyes widen.

Yelena’s is an expensive Thai restaurant, one I never go to.

I grin. “You’re my best friend. Don’t tell Roland.”

She winks. “I know I’m your favorite.”

“Right now, you definitely are.”

At the restaurant, we have to wait about thirty minutes for a table, and I scan the crowd, just people watching.

My eyes fall on a pair of broad shoulders, a tall, salt-and-pepper man wearing an expensive suit sits at the bar, his eyes on the cute bartender.

I chuckle and when he turns slightly and it’s Sebastian I’m looking at, my smile instantly fades.

“Oh, Titan boss man is here,” Marie pipes up, and she startles me because I forgot everything when I saw Sebastian.

Is he flirting with that waitress? Is he going to take her home?

I frown. “I guess.”

“Are you two on the outs? I thought everything was going well.”

“It is. I just.. I guess I don’t like him flirting with that waitress. ”

“When you’re sleeping with two other men?”

I swallow hard.

She has a point. I have no right at all to be jealous, but I can’t help it.

As we walk to the table, Sebastian smiles and tips his glass at me, winking.

I force myself to smile back and go to the table with Marie, making sure I’m facing the bar.

Marie orders a cocktail, and I get a mocktail with ginger ale.

“Just let me sniff your drink.”

Marie laughs. “It won’t do any good.”

I groan. “I know, it’s horrible.”

My eyes keep trailing to Sebastian.

“You’ve got it bad, you know.”

My eyes turn to my best friend. “I do not. I just... I like him, you know?”

“Even though he’s mysterious?”

He’s not so mysterious anymore.

But I don’t want to spill Sebastian’s personal life to Marie.

“I like mysterious.”

“What about love ?”

I choke on my ginger ale mocktail. “I don’t know about all that.”

“Not even with Dom?”

“Not even,” I mutter, but it’s not that I don’t have feelings for all of them. I do.

I just don’t want Marie to know I’m falling for three men.

She shrugs. “I wish I could be like you. Every time I sleep with someone, I fall in love.”

I chuckle. “I know, your thirteen ex-boyfriends and girlfriends gave me a clue.”

She pouts. “Listen, I was at eleven, and then those twins...”

I burst out laughing, and she smiles .

“It’s good to see you back to your old self. You were so upset and depressed all the time before.”

“I’m sorry you guys had to deal with that.”

Marie frowns. “Don’t apologize. We signed up to be your best friends. Whatever that means. We take care of you.”

I smile, tears pricking at the backs of my eyes. “Don’t be so sweet; I’m hormonal.”

She leans over the table and pats my hand, and when the server returns, I order the hottest boneless wings on the menu with a side of fries and blue cheese.

Marie blanches. “Blue cheese? But you hate blue cheese.”

“The baby likes blue cheese, somehow.”

She snorts. “Pregnancy is wild. Yours is making me wonder if I even want kids.”

I rub my little swollen belly, feeling pressure there and then a strange sensation, like bubbles under my skin, makes me jump in my chair.

“What happened? You okay?” Marie asks, concerned, and I just get up and rush to the bar, putting a hand on Sebastian’s shoulder.

He turns, frowning. “Olivia?”

I take his hand and put it on my belly. “The baby. It’s moving.”

Sebastian’s eyes slowly widen, and he startles when the baby moves around again, under my ribcage where his palm is.

“He can feel my hand.” There’s pure awe and wonder in his voice, and it makes my tears spill over my cheeks.

The cute bartender I assumed he was flirting with comes around the counter, and I fight not to frown.

“Oh! Is this the baby mama you were talking about?”

“I didn’t call you a baby mama,” Sebastian mumbles, but my heart is already soaring .

He told her about me? A young, hot woman? He wasn’t trying to hit on her?

I throw my arms around him, sniffling, and kiss all over his face.

He chuckles, pushing me away gently and flushing. “We’re in public, little girl. What if your dad walked in?”

“Right now, I don’t care.” I beam at him.

The bartender smiles at me. “He’s been talking about you for an hour now.”

“He has?”

“Please, stop talking.” Sebastian chugs down the rest of his drink and stands. “Time for me to go back to work.”

“Was this a three-martini lunch?” I tease, but he shakes his head.

“Club soda and lime. Trying to cut down before the baby gets here.”

Sebastian can be so sweet when he wants to be, and I have to admit my feelings for him are growing. They’re at the same rate as the ones I have for Damien... and even Dominic.

Who would have thought?

“Have a good day at work!” I say cheerfully, and when I turn, Marie is standing behind me, shaking her head and laughing.

“You’ve become a crazy person since you got pregnant.”

“I know.” I laugh and cry at the same time as I wipe at my face.

We head back to the table, and I sit back down, still sniffling.

“What happened?”

“The baby started to move. I was just so excited...”

Marie pouts. “I wanted to feel my niece in there.”

“Could be a nephew.”

“Nah. I know a strong, independent woman when I see one. ”

“Well, if they move again, I’ll make sure to let you know.”

“Good.” She sips her drink. “So... you and Sebastian, huh?”

I stiffen. “Don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Please. You cannot possibly play dumb after that display.”

I deflate. “I know; I know. You’re right. I’m kind of head over heels for him, if I’m honest.”

“For your father’s best friend?” She looks at me incredulously, but I just sigh and nod.

“I didn’t plan this. I just wanted a little fun.”

“You got fun, all right. Eighteen years of it.” She cackles, but I give her a withering look. “Sorry. It’s just that living vicariously through your drama is all I have going for me right now.”

“That can’t be true. What about Floyd?”

“For one thing, he has a horrible, un-moanable name, and for another, he’s married.”

“Floyd is married?”

“Are you surprised because he has such a heinous name?”

I laugh. “And to think, you defended his terrible name to Roland.”

“A man named Roland has no right to judge. I stand by that.”

I burst out laughing, and the baby moves like they’re giggling with me.

I grab Marie’s hand and place it on my stomach.

She jumps when the baby moves again. “Holy shit! Something’s really in there?”

I laugh harder. “Yeah, that’s how pregnancy works.”

She looks down at my stomach in awe for a moment before moving her hand away.

“I’m really proud of how well you’ve been handling all this. ”

I snort. “I’m hanging on by my fingernails.”

“But you’re holding on. I probably wouldn’t be able to.”

“It’s a lot, but I’m coping.”

“And the sex helps,” she points out.

“It does. I want it all the time now that I’m pregnant.”

She raises an eyebrow. “Really?”

“Constantly.”

She doesn’t say much else about it, and the conversation moves on to other topics.

The baby either really likes spicy food or really hates it, because they’re moving around crazy throughout the meal.

By the time we head back to the office, I’m cranky again, and it’s not because I’m hungry. Well, at least not for food.

I just can’t seem to stop thinking about Damien, Dominic, and Sebastian. Individual times I’ve been with them. Group times I’ve been with them.

Everything has just been so fun and stimulating.

I didn’t tell Marie this, but the sex might be the reason I’m not absolutely losing my mind. It’s every distraction that I need like fresh water.

I plop down, almost tired already, in my desk chair.

Pregnancy makes me want to nap all the time, and I haven’t been able to sleep well at night because of heartburn.

I put my purse in my desk drawer and start back to work.

A few hours pass before I come up for air, and when I do, Sebastian stands in my doorway.

I freeze. “Sebastian? What are you doing here? This isn’t about the merger, is it?”

Panic rushes through me, but Sebastian shakes his head, coming inside and shutting the door.

“I just heard you might need... a release.”

I stare at him, confused. “What are you....”

Marie.

I flush. “I’m fine. I don’t need anything. ”

“I think you do.” His voice is low and teasing as he comes toward me, walking around my desk.

I swivel to face him, and he gets down on his knees, pushing my chair back slightly so he fits under my desk.

“What are you doing?” I hiss but it turns into a moan as Sebastian’s hands go up my bare thighs.

Thank God I wore a skirt to work today.

Wait.

What am I doing?

I can’t have sex in my office while my company is falling apart?—

Ah.

His fingers slide my panties to the side and then he’s putting his head under my skirt, pressing his face against my sex and moaning against me.

I make a noise in the back of my throat as he laps at my clit, bracing my hands on the desk so hard my knuckles turn white.

A knock sounds on my office door, and I want to throw myself out the window.

“Answer it,” Sebastian says, his voice muffled.

“Uh, come in!” I call, my voice high-pitched and reedy.

Roland opens the door just a crack.

Sebastian’s tongue finds my entrance, and I jolt in my seat.

“Wanted to check on those contracts I need signed. I needed them last week , but you called out so?—”

“Okay. I’ll get them to you as soon as I can.” I try not to pant as Sebastian’s thick fingers work themselves into me, curling up to hit my sweet spot.

I’m seeing stars, and Roland won’t leave.

He pauses at the door. “Are you okay? You seem a little... off.”

“Fine. Just, you know, pregnancy brain fog.”

Roland looks at me curiously but eventually shrugs and closes the door, and all the breath rushes out of my lungs as I start to come around Sebastian’s fingers, rocking my hips so there’s more friction against my clit.

Sebastian groans, panting softly against me before lifting his head and wiping his face with his hand, grinning wickedly at me.

I narrow my eyes at him. “You’re a menace to society.”

“Born and bred.” He chuckles, pushing my chair back and standing up, adjusting his slightly rumpled suit.

He reaches down to pat my stomach before leaving the office without a word.

I stare at the door after he leaves, wondering just what fresh hell I’ve gotten myself into.
