Chapter Twenty-Seven

OLIVIA

I walk into my living room the next morning to a rumpled Sebastian lying on my couch. His shirt is half open, wiry chest hair showing through.

I clear my throat and when he keeps snoring, I kick the couch.

He grumbles and rolls over.

I sigh and walk to the guest room, poking my head inside.

Dominic is snoring even louder than Sebastian, face down on the bed fully clothed, with his shoes still on.

I shake my head and shake him awake.

He snorts and sits up, his eyes unfocused.

“It’s time to go.”

“Fuck, where am I? What year is it?”

I snort. “It’s the same year as when you passed out. You only slept through the night.”

“God, what did I drink? Gasoline?”

“By the state of you, it smells like it.” I wrinkle my nose.

“Did I... I called you.” He goes pale, and it’s almost funny.

Or would be if I wasn’t so exasperated with him and Sebastian .

“Yeah, you called me. At three in the morning. I picked you guys up from a strip club.”

“Oh, no .”

“Oh, yes.”

“If it makes you feel better, we never even went in!” Sebastian calls from the living room, and I can’t help laughing.

“We were way too drunk to get in,” Dominic mutters.

“Well, I guess I’m glad the two of you are getting along.”

Am I glad? It’s kind of weird, right?

Sebastian had been pretty open with me about his jealousy, and that’s a good thing.

Now if only Dominic would do the same.

He snorts, running a hand through his hair. “Not like I have a choice.”

I stiffen. “Listen, if you don’t like the way things are, you don’t have to hang around.”

Dominic frowns, holding out his hands in defense. “Don’t be like that, Liv. That’s not what I meant, and you know it.”

“Do I? You don’t talk to me, Dom, you don’t?—”

“I’m talking to you now.” He cups my face with one hand. “And I just want us to be us again, Liv. I just want me and you, and whoever this baby’s father is can be a part of their life. But he doesn’t have to be a part of yours.”

I tremble. “I can’t do that right now, Dominic. I have to see how this plays out.”

His eye twitches, jaw working. “Have to see who you’ll choose?”

“Dom, it’s not like that?—”

“Sure, it’s not.” He gets up and adjusts his clothes, leaving the apartment before I can say anything else.

Sebastian blinks when I walk into the living room.

“You really got under his skin.”

I groan. “I didn’t mean to. He’s just so jealous.”

“He’s trying to keep what’s his. I get it. ”

“I don’t belong to anyone. I never will.”

“I get that, little girl, but he doesn’t. Maybe he’ll come around, maybe he won’t. You can’t stress too much about it.” He places a hand on my belly. “Bad for the little one.”

I sigh and stand up. “You’re right. So, get out.”

He stares at me for a moment, and I throw a pillow at him.

“You two stressed me out last night, so now you both leave.”

Sebastian chuckles. “Wow. This is the second time you’ve kicked me out, you know. Starting to become a trend.”

I grin and tug him up, hugging him briefly before leading him to the door.

“I need time to think.”

“Time to choose?”

“Shut up.” I push him out the door.

His laughter trails inside and makes me shiver.

Sebastian is crazy , that’s no secret. But Dominic? He’d promised to have a good head on his shoulders now, and then goes out and gets wasted with Sebastian?

I don’t know what to think.

I head back to the office and see Marie standing at my closed door.

“Oh, you’re here!” she says brightly, and I glare at her.

She’s always been a morning person, but I am not, and pregnancy certainly isn’t making it any better.

“Unfortunately.”

She chuckles. “Long night with one of your boys? Or more than one?”

I snort. “Not in the fun way. Dominic and Sebastian went out together last night and got trashed.”

“ What ? Those two, together? Why? How?”

“I have no idea. They’ve apparently bonded in their dislike for Damien. ”

She chuckles. “I mean, he is definitely a contender.”

“This isn’t a prize fight, Marie.”

“It kind of is. And you’re the prize!” She cackles.

“Ha, ha.” But I can’t help smiling.

I guess it is kind of funny, especially if you’re outside the drama like Marie.

“So, did anything spicy happen?” She raises her eyebrows.

“No, get your head out of the gutter. They just slept over, and neither of them in my bed.”

“Aw, that’s no fun. What I’m really hoping for is that you can have all of them. Like you’re the princess and they’re your harem.”

I laugh. “Maybe in a perfect world.”

I unlock my office and walk inside, and she follows, shutting the door behind us.

“So listen, I heard about your leak, and I’ve been going through all the new hire files.”

I huff. “Has everybody heard about the leak?”

She shrugs. “Pretty much. Everyone knows everyone here, you know that. But look at this file.”

Marie pushes a thick file toward me—Rosalind Miles.

I frown, not recognizing the name.

When I flip open the file folder, it comes to me. A petite brunette, barely noticable, who works in the Accounting department.

I still don’t remember her name, but this fits. She’s new, hired within the last ninety days, and she’s about to be off her probationary period.

As far as her file is concerned, it’s... vague. There’s some mention of disciplinary action and a sealed file from her background check.

It’s interesting, to say the least.

“All right. I’ll keep an eye out for her. And I’ll tell Damien to do the same. ”

Marie nods. “I just wanted to bring it to your attention. It has to be one of the newbies, right?”

God, I hope so.

My heart had nearly dropped through the ground when I temporarily thought the leak was Roland.

But he and Marie are my best friends. I would never doubt them.

“What are we doing after work?” Marie asks, and I look down at my phone, cursing and realizing it’s Friday.

Friday night is always wine night with Marie and Roland.

I whine. “I can’t have any booze.”

“You can drink sparkling cider and eat as much junk food as you want!”

“Can I have spicy chips and garden vegetable cream cheese?”

“You’re disgusting, but sure.”

“Pregnancy cravings,” I mumble in defense, but Marie just laughs.

“I’ll go by the store on the way to your place.”

“You’re an angel.”

She waves me away and leaves the office.

I don’t so much as get a peek at Damien all day, which I guess is the way Sebastian and Dominic like it.

I huff out a breath, still annoyed.

I do kind of like the idea of all my boys getting along, I guess...

What Marie had said earlier keeps repeating in my brain.

All of them. Like a princess and her harem.

A girl can dream, can’t she?
