I might have proven my own pack wrong,I point out.But will it be enough for the Council?
It always starts with one person. He smiles. It’s like a single drop in the ocean now, but to quote one of my favorite movies, ‘Yet what is any ocean, but a multitude of drops?’
That sounds like a kickass quote. This movie needs to jump on my list for my movie nights with Annie and Ella. What’s the movie called?
Cloud Atlas,he says, sounding amused.
After being bombarded with questions for a few more minutes, I manage to drag Raffy away from the crowd. “Do you know what else this means?” I ask him with a smile once we put some distance between us and the others.
“What?” he looks at me curiously.
“Alpha Liam told me I’ll be blessed by the Council,” I say. “One of the blessings will mean that my life span will be expanded. I’m not going to die centuries before you do.”
It takes a while for him to grasp fully what I just told him. Then he just grabs me by my waist and twirls me around like we were in some gay Disney movie. Not that I complain. I love Disney princess movies.
“You’re amazing,” Raffy blurts out.
I wrap my arms around his neck. “I know.” I grin.
Chapter sixty-one
Official
*DAVE*
“So,youmetduringyour road trip?” Ye-Joon asks while he sits down next to me. He looks even more earnest than usual and tired. I assume he has worked too much recently.
One of his subordinates has followed him to our table and now puts drinks in front of us all. Raffy and I finally made time to meet with my friends, and I can now officially introduce Raffy to them.
“Your coffees will be out in a minute,” the man tells Ye-Joon and Raffy.
Ye-Joon nods, waiting for him to place all the drinks on the table and leave before looking at us again. “Sorry for the interruption.”
“No problem,” I say. “And yes, that’s how we met.”
“So cute.” Elif sighs dreamily. “Not like Ozan and I. We met through an app.”
“Well, you got a pretty decent guy.” I grin.
“I did.” Elif giggles when Ozan puts his arm around her shoulders. “But that’s not a story you want to tell your grandchildren.”
We all laugh.
“Where is Jun?” Elif asks.
“He is running late,” I tell them. “He picked up Luca, as he had a late class.”
“Oh, right.” She facepalms. “I forgot.”
“Here he is.” Ozan nudges her a bit and points at the door.
Jun and Luca shuffle inside, both of them covered in snow. “Sorry,” Jun says, sounding breathless as he approaches us. “I picked up Luca, and then we got stuck in traffic.”
Luca chuckles. “It started snowing, and people were getting nervous.”
“Yeah, unbelievable,” Jun grumbles. “Snow in winter. What a surprise.”
Raffy grimaces when he hears his words. “Let’s hope traffic subsides a bit until we drive home, but yeah, I agree, pretty annoying.” When one of the waitresses brings the coffees, he smiles happily. My guy can drink coffee anytime and still sleep like a baby. It’s a gift. He hands me the cookie that’s delivered with the coffee.
