Asmilecurlsmylips as I watch Liam and Dante squeeze themselves into the theater seats. Ye-Joon’s fanbase is big enough to perform in an actual theater. I usually come here with Dave, and we don’t attract that much attention, but with an alpha and beta with me, and me as the gamma, we look like the three musketeers on steroids.
They both clean up really well, though. Liam is obviously used to mingling with high society. He is dressed in black dress pants and a white silk shirt with a dark green vest. He easily looks like the prince he actually is. But Dante also seems to be used to dressing formally. He has combed his black hair back and looks like he could be a regular member of an English cigar club.
The glances the lady at the entrance gave us were hilarious. Even more hilarious were the flirty looks from the guy and girl at the garderobe, to which both Dante and Liam were oblivious.
“So it’s really a dance performance?” Dante muses.
“It is.” I chuckle. “Ye-Joon is a good friend. I try to watch his performances regularly.”
This time, Ye-Joon is performing as part of a group. They show a beautiful, modern dance and a travel through the cultures, but he is definitely their eye-catcher. The moment he steps out into the spotlight for his solo, the whole room is so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
He is clad in black but wears a flowy blue satin vest. In his hand he holds a fan. He is a professional ballet dancer, and it shows by the way he moves gracefully and twirls around. However, he gives it his own modern and contemporary spin.
He is good,Liam links us.Solid movements, very strong posture.
I didn’t peg him as a dance fan. When I stare at him, he just chuckles. What? You know my family is quite traditional. My dad always wanted us to know our fair about art.
I wasn’t aware,I admit.
I know,he says.
I wonder if I upset him in a way. I do have the tendency to come off aloof sometimes. But I think it’s not nice to pry or meddle with other’s business. My emotional detachment might be my biggest weakness… though I grew up thinking it was my biggest strength.
Ye-Joon spins around, his movements like he is flowing. I’ve always been amazed by how much of a talent he is.
What’s your friend’s name?Dante wants to know.
Ye-Joon,I explain. His family is from Korea.
And he studied ballet?Liam wants to know.He must have started young.
I nod.His parents have basically drilled ballet into him. That’s why he is so good.
More like beat it into him, but I don’t say it out loud. They also disinherited him when they realized he might be gay.
And he has a bar too?Dante wants to know.
He says he needs to live off something.I chuckle.
Ye-Joon finishes his performance by making a beautiful pirouette, his blue vest flying around him, surrounding him with a flash of color. I make sure to film the finale to send it to Dave later.
Everyone applauds eagerly. A group of girls squeal loudly and call his name like he is their superstar.
“Well, he has fans,” Liam comments dryly. “I think Annie would like to see this,” he adds thoughtfully.
“You should absolutely make it a date,” Dante agrees.
“Yes, we haven’t been on a date for a while,” he muses. “What about you and Ella?”
“I think Ella would prefer to watch a monster truck challenge.” Dante smiles.
The applause doesn’t seem to stop, but Ye-Joon just smiles politely at everyone, bows, and then leaves.
Liam, Dante, and I watch the rest of the performance, though none of them is as mind-boggling as Ye-Joon’s. Still, it’s good. A pity that Dave missed it. I decide to send him the video later so he can at least get a glimpse of our friend.
When the show is over, we make sure to head out fast so we won’t need to wait for our jackets. “I’m so ready for a drink now,” Dante muses.
