Story: Snow Hunted
Calix scrunched his nose. “Is she going to be ok?”
Jace placed his fingers on her neck. “Pulse seems steady. Someone will need to stay with her tonight just to make sure.”
“I can!” I announced quickly, garnering several looks from the others. “What? She trusts me.” I knew it went deeper than that.
I wanted. No, I needed to protect her. We all did.
I glanced at Jace and Calix and saw the look on their face. We three had agreed not to pursue Snow. We liked to share women, but Snow was not that. She was different.
Although, after tonight, perhaps we should have included Barrett in the pact. We just didn’t think anyone else in the house was interested in her like that, although it seemed like she had a piece of all of us right now, because the looks on these men’s faces... They were ready to go to war, but we had to be strategic and Barrett would see to it that no one did anything stupid.
Barrett rolled his eyes. “Fine. You can stay with her.”
“Do you think the dark queen will come back?” I asked, cradling Snow in my arms, preparing to walk upstairs with her.
“I don’t know. I would have to assume once she knows Snow isn’t dead, she will.”
“We have to kill her… for Snow.”
“I know.” Barrett said quietly.
I carefully scaled the stairs with her in my arms and when I got to her room, I gently laid her on the bed, slipped off her shoes and covered her with a blanket. She reached out for my arm and held on, so I climbed in bed beside her, wrapping my arms around her.
“It’s ok Snow. We protect our own.” I kissed her on the forehead one more time and then laid my head on her pillow.
Chapter twenty-three
Snow - Off to Find a Mage
Icouldfeelthewarmth of the sun peppering my face and knew it was the morning. This was the fourth morning I had woken up in Enzo’s bed.
I felt him shift under me, so I opened my eyes to find him propping his hands under his head and looking down at me.
“Good morning.” He smiled.
“Morning.” I laid my head back on his chest. “You know,” I started.
“Huh?”
“I think you’re milking this whole taking care of me thing to get out of doing work at the mine.”
I felt him shaking with laughter. “Maybe I enjoy spending time with you.” He rubbed the back of my head affectionately.
“It’s been days.”
“Yea. Barrett says I have to go back next week.” He sulked a bit.
“Oh.” I tried not to sound disappointed, but I knew I failed. I had gotten used to having Enzo all to myself. He was amazing to look at and he made the days go by fast. He was funny and always had the best stories from his days on the streets before Barrett found him. I had learned that he was quite the pick pocket, stealing to get by.
“But it’s ok. We have the whole day ahead of us!” He said, tickling my sides before he jumped out of bed.
He stood and stretched his arms to the sky, causing the muscles in his arms and back to tighten and twist. He was tall and very muscular, not as big as Gage, but proportioned well for his size. He was only wearing a pair of boxers that hugged his ass perfectly. He turned around to look at me, but stopped when he saw me looking at his beautifully wrapped package.
I felt a flutter in my stomach and quickly looked away.
Even though sleeping in the same bed seemed to be a given right now, we hadn’t tried anything. Well, he hadn’t. Which made me wonder why? Was it because he didn’t find me attractive? I made myself available each night, wearing less and less, to the point I was wearing only a shirt that barely covered my ass. But through it all, nothing.
I could even feel his hard dick pressed against my back at night when I would scoot back into him, but nothing.
