Story: Snow Hunted
“What? Scared if I talk about the late, beautiful Queen your spell on my father will be broken?”
Fuck she had noticed.
“The old Queen was beautiful and kind.” She started and I saw the King’s eyes flicker again.
Shit! “Gage!” I commanded and this time he stood up.
“Her long dark beautiful hair, glimmered in the sunlight.”
“Get her out of here now!”
Gaged pinched her arms behind her back until she screamed out in pain.
As soon as she was gone, I turned to do damage control. I rubbed my hand along the King’s cheek. “I’m so sorry darling for that. I had hoped she would have had better manners with the favor I was- we were- allowing her. I fear she is too far gone into the darkness to see that what she’s done is wrong.”
He nodded without speaking for a moment, his eyes focused on the doors Snow had just exited. “Yes.” He spoke slowly as if trying to believe the words he was speaking. “Yes. It does appear she is too far gone.” He patted his mouth before standing up. “Please let me know when her execution is. I would like to be present to ensure it all goes according to plan.” He turned and walked out of the room.
I was left sitting there alone. The table was a wreck, food and napkins were strewn about and I couldn’t tell if Snow had broken through to the King. I hadn’t seen his eyes before he left. Even though his words sounded like my King, there was something about the tone.
I pushed back from the table, throwing my napkin down.
Damn that little bitch! She was going to die now!
Chapter forty-one
Snow - Last Cry
Myshoulderswereburningas I wiggled against Gage’s grip. “Let me go! You’re hurting me!”
“Stop wiggling Princess.” He answered coolly.
He continued shoving me down the hall, the clacking of my shoes echoed on the stone floor. “I know you’re in there Gage. The real you, not this asshole.”
He laughed. “You’re annoying.”
“Fuck off!”
Run Snow… run.A woman’s voice echoed through the halls.
I looked around trying to figure out where it had come from and why Gage wasn’t reacting, and nearly tripped over the edge of the plush carpet that lined the final stretch to the Queen’s room.
“Pay attention to where you’re going.” Gage barked.
“I heard something…”
“Your hopes and dreams fading away?”
I glanced around quickly, really needing to come up with some sort of action plan. My window for escape was narrowing and I needed to put a plan into action.
I stiffened my legs causing Gage to lose his balance a little. I took the opportunity to weave my hand between us to his opposite hip as I used my other leg to step behind him, bending down at the same time. His grip on my wrist popped off and I was free. I quickly pushed off him, but he spun around too quickly for me. I ran back the way we had just come, passing by portraits of past Queen’s and King’s. I stutter stepped when I saw a picture of the old Queen, my mama.
I felt Gage’s hand on my shoulder so I spun around kicking at the same time I thrust my palm up into this face, crashing into his nose.
“Bitch!” He shouted, grabbing his nose.
“I don’t like to be touched by assholes.”
I had no idea where I was going. It had been forever since I’d been allowed in this part of the castle. I ran from door to door, but they were all locked. Where in the hell was the main staircase!
