Story: Snow Hunted
So long horsey!
The sun setting in the sky caught my attention. I was running out of time! I needed to kill her before those stupid miners returned home.
I bolted out of the room and down the stairs and gathered myself before opening the front door. “Is everything ok? I heard you yelling something.” I said in a meek voice.
She looked over her shoulder briefly, then turned back to digging up the potatoes. “Yes. My horse. He must have run off.”
“Shame. I didn’t see a horse. I can keep an eye out for him, though.”
“Thank you, you’re so kind.”
“The kindest.” I mumbled under my breath.
“What was that?” She brushed the hair out of her face with her arm.
“I asked where you needed me.”
“Oh. Down there would be good. Lots of potatoes.” She laughed.
“Yes, of course.”
I reached in my bag and grabbed a necklace out and coiled it around my hands and walked over to her. I heard her humming some song and excitement filled me, knowing that would be the last song she’d ever hum.
I reached around her neck and pressed the necklace to her throat, pulling back as hard as I could.
“Poor Snow. Always so trusting.” I said through gritted teeth.
She let out a gasp and a moan as she flailed about. She reached up, trying to grab onto my arms, but the cloth prevented her from getting a firm grasp.
I pulled harder, pressing my knee into her back for leverage, but felt my strength falter for a second. “No!” I cried out.
I could tell one of my children had been killed. It was like an electric shot zapped through me. All that youth wasted, I thought in fury.
I looked down at Snow and saw her looking up at me, eyes wide with panic as realization set in.
“You. You did this!” I pulled hard and watched as her face turned a rainbow of colors before her arms fell to her side.

Enzo - We Protect our Own
“WhenisGagegoingto be back?” I moaned to Barrett. “I had to do part of his section today because he wasn’t around.”
Barrett patted me on the back. “A little extra work is good for you.”
I rolled my eyes. “So… Gage?”
“He’ll come back soon.”
“What’s he doing?”
Barrett cut his eyes at me, which told me I needed to drop it.
“Fine.”
He held his hand out. “Stop.”
We all froze.
