“When’s the meeting?” I ask.
“Tonight at sunset. It’s at the old mill on Ridgeline Drive.” Matrix taps away at his keyboard. “I texted you the coordinates.”
My phone pings.
“You and Holly are going to have to go alone, without backup,” Scar says. “It was the only way Reynolds would agree to meet you and your wife.”
“Wife? Oh, right. Holly.”
Talon snickers until Scar gives him a look that shuts him up.
“Don’t be late,” Matrix warns. “I can’t believe he even agreed to meet with us. That guy has assistants for his assistants, but the story was too juicy to pass up.”
“What does he know?” I ask.
“You’re going to give him a tape that will end Blackstone’s career. I dropped hints that it involves kids and sex. That was enough to hook him.”
“Okay. Where’s the videotape?”
“It’s not actually a tape. This isn’t 1999,” Matrix laughs.
“So, it’s recent?”
“According to the time and date stamp, it was recorded last year. Even though it’s digital, certain things are automatically embedded in the file.”
“Like the time and date,” Talon says.
“We got that,” Reaper says.
“Why didn’t you just email him the file?” I ask.
“He’ll only accept it in person. Some weird reporter thing, like from Watergate.” Matrix closes his laptop and pulls a small flash drive out. He slides it across the table to me. “Don’t lose that.”
“I won’t.”
“This is going to be a game changer if it works,” Talon says.
“It’ll work,” Reaper says.
“It better. Anyone got anything else?” Scar asks.
“Yeah, can you tell Nitro that the rest of us are trying to sleep at night, so if he wants to keep his woman screaming, he should gag her. She’s loud as fuck,” Talon says.
Reaper’s lips quirk like he’s trying to smile but can’t quite manage it.
“You guys are disgusting. Stop listening to my woman.”
“Don’t make her come so fucking hard and we won’t have anything to listen to,” Talon says.
“Now do you see why I moved out?” Scar asks, grinning.
“I’m calling Nina. I’ll see if she wants to buy Holly and me a house so we can get the fuck out of here.”
“Is your relationship that serious already?” Scar asks.
“Didn’t you hear her last night? Oh right, you were atyourhouse with Julia, probably doing the same shit,” Talon says.
“This meeting’s over.” Scar pounds the gavel.
