Story: Hello Doctor
He looked at Maya. “Cover your ears, little girl.”
She just laughed.
“What did she say when you asked her?” I asked him, holding back laughter.
His cheeks went bright red. “I’m gonna get you back for this,” he said, pointing a finger at me.
I was laughing too hard to care. Rhett and I were back.
He walked away, flipping me the bird.

I tried to sleep, but it was hard with the cramps battling a massive headache.Yellowstoneplayed on my phone on the bed, but I couldn’t really focus on it much. The only thing comforting me was Fletcher’s confidence as he said he’d take care of me today. He cared for me.It might not have been the romantic way I wished for, but he did care.
A knock sounded on my door, and I blinked out of groggy half-sleep, saying, “Come in.”
The door opened, and Maya walked into my room carrying a tray full of food. There was a pretty green smoothie, eggs with sauce drizzled on top, and a little fruit salad with a sprig of mint. Not to mention there was a tiny glass with a single cut flower. Lilac.
She looked so proud as she carefully carried it to me.
“This is so sweet of you. Thank you so much, Maya.” I sat up, taking the tray and folding it over my legs.
“That’s Doctor Maya to you,” she said sternly. “Have you been getting plenty of fluids?”
I smiled incredulously at her and then noticed her dad standing beside her. He looked so freaking good in a tight navy shirt and faded jeans. The wink he sent me was just the cherry on top.
“Thank you, Doctor Maya,” I corrected with a smile, despite the cramps that felt like barbed wire in my gut.
Fletcher came forward with a little ramekin and handed it to me. I looked at all the pills inside and asked, “What’s this?”
“They’re a few supplements that should help with your symptoms and replace some of the nutrients you’re losing with your flow. If you need a list, I can write them out for you.”
My eyes started to water, and I blinked quickly, trying to wipe away the tears.
“Oh no,” Fletcher said. “Are you okay?”
“It’s not that. It’s just so sweet that you and Maya would...” My tears choked off my voice, and I had to take another breath. “This just means a lot is all.”
Maya came to my side, hugging me, while Fletcher tried to keep Graham off the bed. He stood with the dog in his arm, looking caringly down at me. “Of course we’re here for you, Liv. You’re not just a nanny. You’re family.”
My heart was melting so damn hard, I said, “Get in here, Fletch. Group hug.”
He held me close, and something about the three of us, plus Graham, just felt right.
After a couple minutes, Fletcher stepped back, saying, “Eat your breakfast, and then we’ll all hang out on the couch and watch a movie if you’re up for it.”
“I’d love that,” I said.
Maya glanced at me. “Parent Trap?”
“You know it,” I replied. “Then I’ll introduce you to an old friend of mine.Uncle Buck.”
She looked confused. “Like Uncle Rhett?”
Fletcher and I both laughed. “More than you know,” I finally said.
She just laughed.
“What did she say when you asked her?” I asked him, holding back laughter.
