Story: Hello Doctor
Fletcher: Cute.
Fletcher: Almost as cute as those dance moves.
My cheeks instantly flamed, remembering the dance party he walked in on. Gosh, I was such a nerd.
Liv: Sorry you had to witness that. You’re probably scarred for life.
Fletcher: I didn’t mind the view.
My eyes widened at his text.
Was Fletcher Madiganflirtingwith me?
Before I had a chance to reply, another text came through.
Fletcher: I have another patient coming in. Talk soon.
I took a screenshot of the conversation and sent it to my group chat with Henrietta and Della.
Della: OMG HE IS SO FLIRTING WITH YOU!!!
Henrietta: I say play the music and dance it up. ;)
Liv: He’s my BOSS. You’re supposed to keep me from making bad decisions.
Henrietta: LOL sometimes bad decisions can be the most fun.
Della: Which makes them good decisions.
Liv: Have a mentioned I love you two?
Della: A time or two.
Henrietta: Love you too.

When swim lessons wrapped up,Maya and I loaded into the truck and went back to the house for lunch. I pulled all the ingredients out of the fridge for cucumber sandwiches and when I was looking through the drawers for a spatula to spread the mayo, I found a heart shaped cookie cutter.
While Maya showered and changed, I made the sandwiches and cut hers into cute little hearts. Then I arranged two hearts on her plate for eyes, used a big strawberry for the nose, and a line of baby carrots for the smile.
I smiled at it and took a little picture, sending it to Fletcher.
Liv: Lunch time. :)
Before he could reply, Maya came out from her room, her wet hair hanging in waves down her back, leaving damp spots in her navy-blue shirt. “Where’s my food?” she asked a bite to her voice.
I tried not to be offended because she was probably really hungry from all the swimming. “Right here,” I answered, eagerly waiting for her to see the surprise.
She got on her chair and looked at the food, her lip curling up. “I’m not a baby.”
“I know, I thought it looked like one of those emojis with the heart eyes.”
Still frowning, she asked, “What’s in this sandwich.”
“It’s one of my favorites,” I said. “Cucumber with mayo, cream cheese, and some seasoning. I think you’ll love it.”
She looked at it for a long second, then picked it up and dropped all the food in the trash. “I don’t like cucumbers.”
