Story: Desire
Glancing over, I don’t stop, and walk a little faster.
“Pet, remember he likes to chase,” Sidney says with a chuckle.
“How do you know that?” I hiss.
“I didn’t really until you confirmed it.” He smirks.
Grayson explodes out of his office, and I’m slightly in awe of the power in his body.
“The hiding stops now,” he growls.
My lips part in surprise as I turn to face him. “You know where I am.” I laugh without humor. “I don’t think you’ve bothered looking hard enough.”
“This week has been shit, but I haven’t seen you at all. I don’t know if you’re eating, I get secondhand information…”
Sidney raises his brow at me and I blow out a breath.
“She’s not eating,” he rats me out, and I scowl at him. “Silla is avoiding the dining hall, and therefore skipping meals. What are you, the Great Big Head Dick going to do about it?”
There aren’t many people around us, but he speaks quietly enough that only Gray and I can hear him.
“Have dinner with me,” Gray commands. “Whatever your plans are, change them. Sidney bring her to my room at seven please.”
This is past the time my dining hall eats, and I raise my brow.
“You and I are going to have a Godsdamn conversation now that you’re feeling better. Part of me didn’t want to push, but that’s over now. Tonight, Silla. Do not force me to come look for you. I’ll throw you over my shoulder and spank your ass red,” the Warden growls.
Shivering with my eyes wide, I’m well aware that I’m not afraid of this man. I’m intrigued, hurt, and confused, but fear rarely rears its ugly head around him. Maybe it’s dumb, but I know Grayson is a good man.
Even if he’s clueless when it comes to why I've been avoiding his office. He’s a busy man, the Queen’s staff has dropped by twice more this week.
The last thing I want is to be pulled into the crossfire because one of them recognizes me. My cramps have also kept me in my room most of this week.
While Andrya brings me breakfast, and Ayden pulls me from my room for dinner, I end up sleeping through lunch.
Now that my uterus isn’t trying to kill me, I need to take better care of myself.
“Silla,” Grayson says, reminding me of his presence. I keep getting lost in my thoughts today.
“Understood, Sir,” I respond, meeting his gaze.
He grunts, his hand fisting as he bites it hard. “I’ll see you later.”
Sidney presses his palm on my lower back and I turn away. I can’t focus on anything for long.
How different would my life be if my mother had never married Cinder’s father? He wasn’t the catch that everyone assumed. Marcus Tremaine had a very hidden life.
“Silla, are you okay?” Sidney asks and I shake my head.
“I’m all in my head, I’m afraid.” I sigh. “I’m… I can’t seem to help it.”
He nods, kissing my forehead as he knocks on Ayden’s door before pushing it open.
“There’s nothing wrong with flailing a little, Pet. We’ll tether you to us so you’ll always come back.”
I don’t know why his words make me emotional, but I feel the hot burn of tears behind my eyes. Swallowing hard, I smile as Ayden jumps up.
“Hello, Beautiful. Are you here to play twenty questions or snuggle?” he asks.
