Story: All's Fair in Love & Vegas
Hefreezes. “Why, what’dDreesay?”
Imake a face. “Nothing?”
Zaksteals my water and takes a giant gulp.
Ipivot to face him. “Hey!”
Hegrabs my hand and pulls me close untilI’mpressed against him with hands on his chest.Hishand comes to my cheek, and his face draws closer.
ZakRamos’slips meet mine.
OH.MY.GOD.
Hishand trembles on my cheek.Hislips are cool from the water, but that’s the leastIcan think of becausemy band mate and brother’s best friend is kissing me!
Heparts, ending a kissI’veonly dreamed of and leaves me gaping up at him.
“You’reincredible, you know that?” he murmurs.Hiscool breath passes over my lips, teasing me to come closer again.
“Soare you,”Iwhisper in shock.
Idon’t thinkIcan move;I’mterrified of even a single muscle twitching with the wayZakpeers at me like we’re in a whole other world of our own.
“Ilike you,Steph.”
Theway my brain refuses to string together a line of words to respond with is astounding. “I-I-Ilike you, too,Z.”
Gradually, his face comes closer.Hisblack hair sticks to the side of his face, just like his brother’s, but his hair is longer, shaggy from growing out.
Theydon’t look much alike as fraternal twins, but they still have similarities, like golden brown eyes they got from their father, a terra-cotta glow from their mother, and jawlines that could cut diamonds.
“No,” he says softly before kissing my lips. “Ireallylike you.”
Ican’t hide the shy grin as my hands slip to the back of his neck and his settle on my hips.Butterfliessoar in my stomach. “Icouldn’t tell with the way you’re kissin’ me.”
Oh, boy, is he eager to prove that wrong as his mouth crashes onto mine.
He’sa lot surer this time, lips confident as they steal my breath.Zakholds me tighter, pressing us together from chest to knee and allowing me to feel every part of himI’veonly daydreamed of touching.
Thetip of his tongue brushes over my lips, coaxing mine to part, butIcan’t—this is all so quick, andI’mbreathing hard and fast, and my nerves are coiling up tight, andI’mnervousRobbie’sgoing to catch us and ruin it.
Oh,God, amIruining it right now?
Unlockingour lips,Itake a small step back.Westare at each other in the darkness, half illuminated by a security light, unmoving, summing up one another in a suspended state of time that seems to have stopped the world for this very moment.
“Iwant you to be my girlfriend.”
Excuseme whileIdie on the inside.
Didone of the cutest guys on the face of the planet just say whatIthink he said?
“What?Really?”Iask incredulously.
ThefamousRamossmirk appears as he steps closer. “Yeah, really. We’retogether all the time;Ilike spending time with you; we got a lot in common.”Hetucks a stray lock of hair behind my ear. “Plus, you’re really pretty.”
Aharsh blush creeps up my neck and onto my cheeks. “You’renot scaredRobbie’sgonna kill you for tryna date his little sister?”
Zakwrinkles his nose. “You’reonly four months younger than me.Heain’t gonna do shit, anyway.”
