Hell, it was more likeseconds.
Everything was just happening so quickly, the scene one I hadn’t been able to fully digest.
Until now.
Until the vampire had spoken those last three words.
I may be an Omega,I thought. But I am so much more than that. I’m an Omega withteeth.
The Alpha was so consumed by my blood and licking it from his blade that he didn’t notice as I initiated my shift—starting with my jaws.
Just enough to call forth my much sharper canines.
And then I went for the sensitive tendon between his thumb and forefinger while kicking back with my heel right against his shin.
The knife fell to the ground as I severed the tendon link with my teeth, and the vampire stumbled back in shock—a shock that led to him falling from the backward kick to his leg.
I jumped forward and immediately finished my shift, the change overcoming me so much faster after spending nearly two weeks with my new mate.
Fucking.
Eating.
Drinking.
Andshifting.
Our mating had empowered me in a way I’d never anticipated, bringing me that much closer to my wolf’s soul and allowing me to function as one being with her teeth and claws at the helm.
Jonas kicked the other Alpha off of him, his paw immediately reaching for me as he pushed me behind him and squared off with the other two males.
His growl was the most menacing sound I’d ever heard. It promised murder. It vowed toprotect.
He didn’t give our attackers time to regroup; he simply pounced, going for the vampire this time instead of the wolf.
Considering vampires—especiallyAlphas—possessed unnatural speed and strength, I understood his choice. Alpha vampires were vicious creatures, immune to sunlight, and bloodthirsty. I’d only been able to gain the upper hand temporarily because of the Alpha’s distraction, and now Jonas was exploiting that injury.
He sank his jaws into the vampire’s chest, weakening him further.
Before tackling him to the ground to go to work on his neck.
The vampire fought back, his arms wrapping around Jonas and squeezing as the Viking Alpha darted forward to sink his own fangs into Jonas again.
Then the three of them became a blur of terrifying growls.
I took several steps back, but the glint of the blade caught my eye.
I was no match for these Alphas in wolf form, at least in terms of my strength and teeth.
But would I be any better on two feet with a knife in my hand?
A snapping sound distracted me from my analysis.
One of the bodies hit the ground.
Viking Alpha, I thought, relieved.
Until the vampire and Jonas started whirling around even faster. Their sounds were guttural andwrong.
