Page 27 of X-Clan The Origin
Fucking Alpha Prince.
That title didn’t make him royalty. It was just a formal designation the V-Clan wolves used for their Sector Alpha positions.
Icould be a Sector Alpha for an X-Clan pack. I was old enough. Strong enough. Fast enough.Smartenough.
But I’d never attempted to join a sector or a clan because I preferred my calling as an enforcer.
If Riley wanted aprince, then maybe Kieran was the better choice. He certainly had the arrogance of a royal.
Thinking about Kieran and how Riley might prefer his knot to mine made my wolf growl, his irritation both at me and at the Omega hiding from him.
Doubtwas an emotion my beast refused to entertain. He felt certain of his pursuit.
It was the man in me that questioned everything because of Riley’s bizarre behavior.
Which was really fucking annoying because I didn’t question things. Ever. But that woman left me conflicted about every damn decision in her presence due to her bratty behavior.
All because she’s been hiding her Omega status.
That was the heart of it all—she just didn’t want me to find out.
Well, I know now. And I’m going to find you.
She was nearby. I could feel her presence. Her heat. Herneed. The scent of it wrapped around me like a drugging cloak, drawing me farther upstream.
My wolf slowed, his focus falling to a set of bigger rocks along the edge. The kind of rock formation that a small wolf could hide within.
He prowled up on top of the rocks and lay down.
Then growled.
A soft little whimper came from beneath the stones.Riley.
Another rumble left my chest, causing her to slowly slip out into the water.
Her eyes met mine.
I knew when her body jerked that she was about to run, and my wolf reacted before she could take more than a step.
Wepounced.
Rolled.
Snarled.
And pinned our Omega to the water’s edge.
She shivered beneath us, another of those whines leaving her snout.
You’re ours now, little one,I thought at her, my wolf growling once more, this time in warning.Shift or I’ll make you shift.
She exposed her throat, her belly already touching mine.
And began to transition back into human form.
I balanced myself above her with my paws on either side of her head, not wanting to risk hurting her or smothering her with my weight. The rocks beneath her neck and shoulders were probably sharp and uncomfortable. I would have tackled her in the grass, but the stream had made it easier to trap her.
Once she finished her change, I joined her, my human side overtaking my animal in half the time as hers.Because I haven’t been throttling my instincts with suppressants, I muttered to myself.
