She growled in response. “I’m going into heat after over a decade without sex. I’d take any knot right now.”
My eyes narrowed. “Any knot?”
“That’s what I said, Alpha. I’m an Omega. Any knot will do. So yeah, I’m reacting to yours.”
I went back to my knees between her spread legs, taken aback by her callous statement.
I’d been craving this female for months.
Yet she’d essentially just said,I suppose you’ll do since I have no other choice.
After everything I’d done for her. Protecting her. Choosing her life over mine. Puttingherfirst every step of the way.
And she thanks me by insinuating that she is only reacting to my knot because she’s going into heat and I’m the only one available?
Fuck. That.
I’d passed her wolf’s test. I’d proved my skill set and worth formonths.
If she didn’t find me worthy enough for more than just my knot, then I wasn’t about to give it to her.
“Fine.” I pushed away from her and stood.
Which, of course, drew her gaze to my throbbing dick.
But fuck if I was going to offer it to her now. Not afterthatinsult.
Any knot.
“I’ll make you a safe place in the cabin for your heat. Or you can stay out here and fend for yourself.” I wasn’t going to tie her to a bed and force her to take my knot.
I wasn’t that kind of Alpha.
Some would have just taken her and demanded her supplication. But I wanted my female warm and willing, notsettling.
Perhaps that was my V-Clan influence. Because my father certainly hadn’t been that way with my mother. He, along with three others, had taken her during one of her heats. Then they’d brawled for the chance to mate her.
Which had led to his death.
And my mother being saved by her current mate.
So yeah, taking an Omega against her will was a bit of a hot button for me, considering that was how I’d essentially been created.
This was all something Riley would know if she’d actually tried talking to me.
But no. She’d refused me for reasons I didn’t understand.
And right now, I wasn’t sure I even wanted to know.
Any knot.
Yeah.
Good luck with that, Doctor.
“Have fun in the woods,” I said and started back on foot toward the cabins.
There weren’t any threats out here right now. Riley would be fine. And if she chose to go deeper into the forest, then I’d track her down and stay nearby to protect her.
