“Those better be industrial strength,” I told him. “I’m pretty sure your come is cement now.”

“Are you always this funny after sex?” Liam asked as he began to gently wipe me down. Again, not as sexy as the books make it sound since I was covered in both of our spunk and sweat.

“A total comedian,” I promised. I whined in pain when he lifted my right leg to wash between all my folds and junk. My face felt like it was on fire. I was so bad at this morning after thing. “Probably good that I was never into one night stands. I’m so bad at this.”

“Bad at what?” Liam asked. He massaged my thigh, working into the muscle, which hurt. I scrunched my face in pain until finally the muscle relented and it was heaven.

“Okay, that’s good. Do the other one too, please. Bad at mornings after. Felix…”

He cut me off with a kiss and his fingers digging into my left thigh causing more than a bit of pain. “Not in bed with us,” he said after he was done ravaging my mouth.

“How do you not have morning breath,” I grumbled at him. “Can you be more perfect?”

He grabbed a small tin out of the stack and popped it open to reveal some mints. I opened my mouth and he put one on my tongue, then went back to his work of cleaning me up. At least the wound in my thigh had healed. And I didn’t feel any of the familiar throb of a lingering concussion. Magic from Underhill maybe? Liam massaged the other thigh until the pain eased, then began to work on my butt muscles.

“That’s totally not going to work where it really aches,” I promised him.

“I offered to prep you,” he reminded me.

I sighed. “Stupid fox brain.”

“Was it the fox who decided to mate with me then?”

I frowned at him, not liking the tension that suddenly tightened his shoulders even while he tried to play cool and calm. “I wouldn’t have mated with you if I wasn’t on board. It was all a little bit more over the top than I’ve ever experienced in my life, but hey maybe that was the mating thing. I’ve never mated before. Next time we’ll start with some kissing and a couple of hand jobs, okay?” Yeah, I was so going to die of embarrassment. “Maybe some frottage. Save the surprise ass pounding for special occasions like Christmas or the election of a democratic socialist leader.”

He laughed again, the tension vanishing. “Anytime.” He spread my legs apart.

“Hey, warn a guy. Not really ready for another round,” I griped.

“I’m just going to examine you. I’m worried I may have hurt you.” He prodded a little bit, even easing a pinky inside. It ached but nothing stung. “No blood. No tears that I feel.”

“See, all good. Nothing broken. I’d feel it. Just sore. Maybe we can put some clothes on and talk?” Anything to make me feel less embarrassed and vulnerable. “What are you doing in Underhill anyway? I thought it was hard to get into?”

“We aren’t in Underhill.” Liam dug through his pile of goodies and found a hoodie and a pair of sweat pants. The hoodie must have been his because when he tugged it over my head, I could have fit at least two other people in it. He finished wiping up my legs and cleaning all my private parts very clinically, before he tugged a pair of warm wool socks onto my feet and then the pants over them. “Your father arrived and tried to find you. Something went really wrong there because until that moment I could feel a link to you. Faint, but I could almost follow it if I could have gotten through to Underhill. Then it was gone. Like you’d vanished completely. Robin went in after you. Said Underhill would likely pull the fox to the surface. Something to do with yourwitchblood. Took him forever to find you. I went a little…mad. Like crazy mad. Have been camped out here for a while, away from the pack, to protect them.”

“Huh?” I replayed his words in my head. “What do you mean took him forever? I saw Robin right away. He appeared after a nap.”

“You’d already been gone awhile. And then you ran from him and he lost you again. Oberon suggested that I use the mate bond to try to call you. Appealing to your omega side instead of trying to find the fox spirit like Robin was. I called. You came. You got through without Robin’s help and found your way to me.”

“I smelled you. Then I felt your heart. And I was on fire. All while being lost…” The whole thing felt surreal, like a really bad dream. Was I awake now? Maybe this was another fae trick? “I was so afraid and alone.”

“Never again.” Liam kissed my forehead. “Just promise the next time you run, you take me with you.” He cleaned himself off. I had to admit to staring open-mouthed in awe the entire time. Liam’s lean muscles, covered in tan skin looked tasty. The couple days beard scruff was hella sexy.

“Next time I get to lick all of you,” I said without thinking.

He paused for a minute and rewarded me with his dimpled smile. “Anytime.”

I shook myself, I had questions. “How did I get to Underhill again?”

“Even Robin isn’t sure. Though he felt you. Said all of Underhill felt you cross over. A ripple through the layer of magic or something.” Liam pulled on his own pair of sweats and a long sleeved T-shirt.

“Sounds like he’s talking to you a lot.”

“To me. Precisely. He won’t talk to anyone except me. Oberon wanted to question him, but Robin just turns cat and disappears into the furniture like the Cheshire cat or something. Your father didn’t even try.”

Apawas here in Liam’s territory. My stomach sank. “Is he going to make me go back to Texas?”

Liam squinted at me. “Robin?”
