Pasting a smile on her face, Rosa opened the door. All eyes swung in their direction as she stepped into the living room. “Hi.”

Lena hurried forward to wrap Rosa in a bear hug. “I’m so glad to see you,mia figlia. And you, too, Jake,” she said, as she gave him a quick hug.

When everyone had made the two of them welcome, they looked at her expectantly.

“You said you had news,” Micah said.

“Yes,” Sofia said. “Tell us.”

Rosa reached for Jake’s hand. “We were married a few weeks ago.”

“Married!” Luciano exclaimed. “Without your family?”

“There were a lot of extenuating circumstances,” Rosa said quickly. “But we’d like to do it again next week, with all of you there.”

Kincaid took a step back as Rosa’s sisters gathered around her, all talking at once.

Micah took that opportunity to take Kincaid aside. “I guess I misjudged you,” he said. “I thought … Hell, you know what I thought.”

“I’d never turn Rosa without her permission. But when she’s ready … ”

“When she is, she’ll have my blessing.”

Kincaid stared at him, thinking Micah’s approval was the last thing he had expected.

“I was out of line, but I didn’t know anything about you except the rumors I’d heard. And none of them were good.”

“Sad to say, they were all true,” Kincaid said, glancing over at his wife. “But she changed all that.”

Holding out his hand, Micah said, “Welcome to the family.”

Rosa glanced over her shoulder, tears welling in her eyes as the two of the three men she loved most shook hands.

Life was good, she thought, and would only get better.

And because she loved Jake desperately and wanted to be with him for more than a few years, Rosa had decided that she would ask Jake to give her the Dark Gift as an anniversary present next year.

Truth be told, she could hardly wait.
