CHAPTER Twenty-Six
“You know it’s the right thing to do.”
Lonny
I arrive at the locationfifteen minutes late.
Late because, halfway here, I made a U-turn, deciding to end things over the phone instead. Only to make another U-turn ten minutes later, scolding myself for being a weakling.
The location is a small airfield, with a large hangar off to the left with Red Cage’s logo on the side. Ahead, on the field, is a black helicopter, also with a Red Cage logo.
There’s no one around, though, so I get out my phone to call True. Before I can, he comes jogging out of the hangar toward me. His heart-stopping grin in full effect.
Just like that, my body is ready to bend to him.
Cool your tits, we’re not here for that. We’re here to end things.
“Hey,” I say when he reaches me. “Why’d you want to meet here, of all places?”
“Almost thought you weren’t coming.” He takes my hand and pulls me off, toward the helicopter. “Come on.”
What? Is he hoping for a helicopter fuck? Halfheartedly, I attempt to free my hand from his grip. “What are you doing? I told you I just want to talk.”
“We can talk on the way.”
“On the waywhere?”
“We’re going for a ride.” Now at the copter, he opens the door for me. “Get in.”
“True, I didn’t come to go for a ride. I—”
“The sooner you get in, the sooner you can have your ‘talk.’” He moves in close, his heat brushing my skin. “Or… would you like it better if I strapped you in…?”
And now my heartbeat is going berserk.No. If he touches me, I’m done for, so I’m up in the copter and strapping myself in before he can ask again.
With that weaponized grin of his, he closes the door, then rounds to the other side and climbs in. I’m not concerned about his aviation skills. All commandos at Red Cage are certified fliers. It’s a hard requirement.
As my heart continues to act a fool in my chest, I put on my headset and watch as he confidently gets everything fired up.
A thought occurs…. Is heChristian Grey-ing me?
The idea sends my heart up another level of berserk. Any minute now it’s going to short circuit and leave me lifeless.
“Is this ‘ride’ related to work or…?”
Instead of answering me, he talks into his head piece, declaring departure status, and a disembodied voice responds with the all clear.
“We’re going toVegas?”
“Kind of.”
He flips something, pulls something, turns something, shifts something… and then we’re ascending.
And hell if he isn’t hot as Hades maneuvering this thing right now.
And now I want him inside me.
Dammit, I think I have a problem. It’s an addiction at this point.
