Since I started with Emily, we always do a nice dinner the night before filming starts. It’s our way of remembering the good old days of crappy movies and to keep things real. It’s a bit harder now because there are usually people who try to take my picture, and Emily gets caught up in it as being my new fling. I like the girl, but it would be like dating my sister.
“How about I get you at five? We can go to the small Italian place down the road. Help me get into character.” I wink at her and she nods.
“Great, see ya then.” She gets up and walks out, leaving me to thoughts of pretty girls in my hotel room. Now, I need to find that maid. I’m in desperate need of some servicing.

We are only interrupted twiceduring our meal for a picture and autograph. I make sure to keep my back to the door, in hopes of stopping others from looking in on us. Emily is telling stories about the past few months of her life. She tells me she’s had a short gig with some small named celebrities, and about her roommate, Sally or something.
Her phone rings, and she excuses herself, walking to a quiet corner of the restaurant. I smirk at the sexy waitress who keeps sneaking bedroom eyes in my direction whenever she thinks I’m not looking.
Trust me, I’m looking, baby. She has a short blonde pixie cut and an ample chest. Not sure if they’re real or not, but I don’t care either way. She looks like she could be my own Tinkerbell. I’m a dirty man. I know it, but I can’t help thinking what it would be like to pound into her.Would she sprinkle some pixie dust on me and make me fly? There’s only one way to find out.
Emily sits and looks over her shoulder to see what holds my attention. Then I motion for my little Tinkerbell to come over. Emily looks at me and rolls her eyes. “Seriously, Tait? Can’t you keep it in your pants for one night?”
I grin like a Cheshire cat. “I’ve got urges, baby, and I’m only young once.”
“Yes, well, just remember, treating chlamydia isn’t fun.”
I cock my brow at her. “Do you know from personal experience?”
“Gross. Unlike you, I don’t sleep with just anything that walks.”
“Not anything, lass. Only if she’s got a nice rack and a tight ass.”
Chapter 4
I’ve madeit another month, and Rose hasn’t fired me yet. I’ve made sure to steer clear of her any chance I get.I swear that woman is out to get me. She is like a ninja sneaking around this place, just waiting for someone to screw up. I wish Mr. Bradshaw would get rid of her. I wouldn’t feel so on edge all the time. This temporary job ends in another month, so I have to be on my best behavior until then.
I see Rose coming around the corner so I put on my best smile. “Good Morning, Rose. How are you today?”
“Not so great. I got a call from one of the star’s managers telling me the personal assistant he has isn’t able to stay for the remainder of the shoot. I’m scrambling to find someone.” She looks over at me and shakes her head. “Sorry, it’s none of your business. I shouldn’t be telling you this anyway.” She walks off, answering her phone as he goes.
Interesting...
I wonder if the movie isKeep Her Safe? That’s the movie Emily’s working on right now with Tait. Ever since she left a month ago, I have been trying to follow what she’s been doing. We don’t have a ton of time to talk on the phone as her hours are always different. She’s posted several pictures hanging out with the other assistants between takes or at dinners. It looks like she’s having a blast, and I kind of wish I was there enjoying it, too. I really should call her tonight and see if she will fill me in on all the gossip.
My cell phone rings, and I look down at the caller ID. It’s Emily. I glance up and down the hallways, making sure it’s clear before answering. She wouldn’t call me unless it was an emergency.
“Hey, Em, everything all right?”
“I have a PA gig for you. I’m coming home early.” She coughs into the phone.
“What are you talking about? Why? What happened?”
“I have mono, and I talked you up enough that you’re going to be Tait’s new assistant.”
“Emily, I can’t do this. He’s your client. You’ve been working with him for years. You know how he likes his coffee. You already have this working relationship with him.”
“Sam, you said you wanted my help breaking into the industry, and this is your chance. Why are you putting up a fight? Tait’s chill. Just get him water and coffee when he asks, and he’ll basically leave you alone. Plus, since mono hit me like a ton of bricks, I didn’t want to leave him high and dry. He agreed that this would be fine.” She stops talking and coughs.
“When will you be home?”
“Flight lands in an hour. Tait sent me home in style. First class, baby!”
I roll my eyes. Of course, he did. “We’ll talk about this tonight.” I pause, not sure if I want to know the answer to my next question. “Emily?”
As if she can read my mind she says, “You fly out tomorrow morning.” She hangs up the phone, not allowing me another word.Great. Now I have to tell wicked witch of the west.
