“Thank me?”
“Yeah, for helping me.”
“All I did was get you an audition. I’m sure if you’d known about it, then you would have made it on your own.”
That probably wasn’t true because I hadn’t known about it since I wasn’t checking the online message board where auditions were posted regularly. I was justliving. Or maybe barely living before I reconnected with Blake again.
Blake …
It had been a few weeks since I last saw him when he’d made me feel likemeagain. But, since running into Eddie and everything that had happened with the revelation of Chuck being Brody, I hadn’t thought about Blake, which wasn’t uncommon since we went months without speaking.
I stopped pacing. “Wait. Howdidyou get me an audition?”
“I … Uh … Know her assistant.”
“Why the hesitation?”
I heard him sigh on the other line. “I can’t disclose that information.”
My head cocked slightly. “Because she’s a baby or a momma?”
“I can’t disclose that information.”
She had to have been a baby because I didn’t think there was some sort of Christmas party where all the daddies and mommas would get together to talk shop.
“All right, well, I want to celebrate with you. I’m going to be practicing almost every day before I go on tour.” On tour. It still sounded surreal on my tongue. “And I don’t know when I’ll see you again.”
My life was going to change and be hectic and fun and stressful and amazing, but uttering the words to Eddie, it hit me that I was going on the road for six months.
Six. Months.
Holy shit!
“How long is the tour?”
“Six months.” I leaned against the front door, still not able to sit down.
Eddie paused for a second before asking, “And when do you start practice?”
“Monday.”
“You practice for over three months?”
I smiled. Of course, he would know when the tour started. “We have to learn all the moves to all the songs, sweetie.”
“You think I’m sweet?” I could hear the smile in his voice.
My grin widened. “Well, I can’t be sure because I haven’t tasted you yet.”
Eddie groaned. “You’re killing me, sunshine.”
“You started it.”
“Dinner tonight?”
“Tonight?” I blinked.
“You want to see me, right?”
