“You haven’t had sex since that night?”
“I have, but not for …”
“Pleasure,” he finished for me.
“Yeah.” I breathed out a breath.
“Tonight, we can change that.”
“But your parents.”
“My parents will probably be in bed and won’t even know you’re there. My room is down the hall.”
“And your brother and his girlfriend?”
“In the guest house.”
He continued to drive for a few more minutes before he looked over and said, “For what it’s worth, I’ve missed you.”
My heart fluttered, a feeling I hadn’t felt in a long time. “I’ve missed you too.”

“Don’t mind us, bro,”I chuckled as Stacey and I walked past the pool where my brother and his girlfriend were clearly fucking. We kept walking and disappeared into the quiet house. It was so silent that I knew my parents were asleep.
“Wow, here I was thinking he was the golden child,” Stacey snorted.
“He is,” I confirmed. “But us Montgomery boys have needs.”
“And don’t care where.” She grinned.
“You talking about us fucking in my truck that first time?”
“Yeah.”
“That was a good night.” I smiled, leading her through the kitchen.
“That seems so long ago.”
It was.
I took Stacey to my bedroom, closing the door behind us, and rubbed the back of my neck, not sure what to say or do. The first time we’d slept in a bed together, it wasn’t planned or talked about. It just happened after we’d fucked multiple times and fell asleep exhausted after a long night of dancing and being together. The second time was the night that seemed to have broken her, and that night, I just held her while we slept. Inviting her over to spend the night was new for me. Invitinganyoneover to spend the night was new for me.
“Can I get you anything? Water? Make you a drink? Something to eat?”
“Um, water?”
“Coming right up.” I went to the kitchen for two bottles of water. When I came back, Stacey was sitting on the edge of my bed, looking as though she wasn’t sure what to do either. “Here you go.”
She took the bottle of water from me, cracking the plastic top open. “So, I’m confused.”
“Okay?” I arched a brow.
“You invited me to spend the night—which I swore you weren’t the type—saying it was because you needed a girlfriend in front of your parents, but your parents are asleep. So why did I need to come tonight?”
“I just …” I rubbed the back of my neck again. “I just panicked.”
