Brock gives me one of his rare smiles while Dylan grins. “You’ll see soon enough. Right now, it’s just a waiting game.”
“A waiting game for what?”
They share a knowing look, and I growl, frustrated. I double over from a cramp and sit on the bed, breathing slowly as they sit on opposite sides of me on the mattress.
My inner Omega is rapidly winning the war in my mind, and I have moments before I lose myself completely. I’m ready to jump them, to beg for their knots, to forget about everything in this hellhole…
But I need to know the truth.
“If you don’t tell me exactly what’s going on, I will lose my shit,” I hiss out, even as slick stains my dress.
And to their credit, they’re both doing a great job of not fucking me senseless.
“I poisoned them,” Dylan says softly, stroking my hair. On the other side of me, Brock gently places a hand on my thigh, and I sigh.
Their touch is a soothing balm in this painful nightmare.
It takes a moment for his words to register.
“You didwhat?”
“I pulled some strings and got Dylan in tonight,” Brock adds, and I shiver at how close his voice is to my ear. “Within an hour, the Alphas and guards will be too sick to function.”
“And by tomorrow, they’ll be dead,” Dylan adds.
My body flushes, fever hot, and I’m convinced I’m hearing things.
“The entire board was here tonight,” Brock adds. “Killian is waiting outside with protestors, and he’s going to create a distraction. We’re going to try to get everyone out.”
I open and close my mouth, unable to process what they’re saying.
“It’s a temporary solution,” Dylan adds. “But Killian has always been good at causing mayhem. This time it’s for a good cause.”
I’m so dumbfounded, sitting between them, that I don’t know what to say.
“You were right,” Brock continues. “I should have listened to you. Poisoning was your idea.”
“And it was fucking brilliant, baby,” Dylan says, whispering in my ear. “You’ve always been our smart girl.”
My breath comes in quick, sharp gasps.
I can’t believe what I’m hearing.
They’re taking down the entire board ofEden.
They’re giving Omegas a chance to escape.
Alphas care for us!
“We’re not heroes,” Brock adds carefully. “But we can’t be the villains in your story, either.”
And they’re not.
They can’t erase history.
But they can try to change the future.
I let out a sob, somewhere between a moan and a cry. Another cramp has me doubled over, and I collapse as both of them hold me up.
