For the first time in a week, I smile. “Damn, I’m glad I met you.”

She laughs and takes a sip of her drink, leading me away from the bar. She flashes smiles at the other Alphas, playing with her hair and giggling as she takes my hand.

“Did any of them take you yet?” She whispers, squeezing my fingers.

“Um, no,” I admit, as she leads us over to a buffet table, plucking a shrimp tail off a platter. “They’ve all beenweird.”

She snorts. “Tell me about it. Some senator asked me to pee on him. I made sure to aim for his eyes.”

I choke on my drink. “What?” I sputter.

“Yup. And the only Alphas I’ve fucked are the ones I’vewantedto.”

I frown. “How?”

“You just have to play their game,” she says in a sing-song voice. “Because in the end, we’re the smarter ones. We’re on the right side of history, and we will win this.”

“You think so?” I ask shakily.

She scoffs. “Half of the Alphas here don’t even know what to do with an Omega. Despite being in Rut, half of them can’t even stay hard. It’s like they just want to keep us captive. That’s what brings them joy. Not even the fucking.”

She affirms my suspicious. “Yeah. It’s…been interesting.”

A smile ghosts across my lips.

Hannah reignites my hope.

“Olive?”

I catch a familiar scent, and my eyes widen, mirroring the Alpha’s shocked expression.

It’s the officer that took me toEden.

Looks like they granted him access.

“Yes?” I snap, and he looks taken aback. Dressed in a fitted dark grey suit, he’s attractive, with a strong jaw, dark brown hair, and curious blue eyes.

He doesn’t look excited to be here, though.

And if he wants to touch me…

But Hannah slides up next to me and hums. “Hmm,” she murmurs. “Do you know her, sir?”

And when he turns his gaze to her, it’s like Hannah’s the only one in the room.

His pupils widen, so blown they’re almost black, and he takes a step closer to her. “I’d like to know you,” he says, his voice low.

She gently runs a hand down his arm. “We can make that happen,” she says. “But what will you do for us in return?”

My jaw drops in disbelief as the Alpha frowns.

“What do you need me to do?” He asks, confused.
