“A guy?” Rufus doesn’t sound that shocked. “Oh, so I was right about you being at least bicurious.”
“Yeah, you were right.”
“So then why—? Ugh, never mind. I can’t wait to meet whoever you’re bringing along. When and where?”
“Umm—” Jett looks at me with wide eyes.
I mouth ‘tomorrow’ and ‘pizza’ at him.
“Tomorrow? We could go for pizza.”
“I love pizza,” Rufus says. “I’ve gotta go. Text me a time and place, and Halle and I will be there. I’m looking forward to it.” He hangs up.
“How do you feel?” I ask.
Jett puts his phone on the floor and releases his breath slowly. “Okay, actually. It was liberating to say it. I’m bi.”
I grin. “Now you’ve arranged our date with Rufus and Halle, we have something else to discuss.”
“What?”
“Stop looking so panicked.” I push up and kiss him. “What are we going to do with the rest of the evening? I’ll have to go home to sleep. You’ve got work tomorrow, and I’ve got to sort out my proposal ideas for when I see my tutor first thing on Wednesday morning. But we’ve got a couple of hours. So, what do you want to do?”
He waggles his eyebrows. “You?”
I smirk. “That can be arranged.”
Chapter19
Jett
Thanks to work, I don’t get to see Kian or talk to him until he meets me outside a pizza restaurant in the centre of town. I’ve never been to it before, but the scent wafting out the door every time it opens smells so amazing my stomach rumbles.
“Hey.” Kian leans in but then straightens, his cheeks pinking. “How was work?”
I stare at him.
“What? Do I have something on my face?” He rubs beside his mouth. “Or do I have two heads?”
“No, you look great.”
“Ah, so you were staring at me because I’m gorgeous? I can live with that.”
I can’t deny he’s gorgeous. Before I can talk myself out of it, I pull him to me and kiss him. It’s just a peck. On a busy pedestrian-only street in the centre of Leeds.
He grins. Hello, beautiful dimples. My knees go weak.
“That was nice.” He puts his hand on my elbow. “But also a pretty big step. Are you okay?”
“Yes.”
“Sure?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Because you’re normally a little more talkative than this.” He raises his hand with his thumb and forefinger half a centimetre apart.
“Sorry. Yeah, it was a big step, and then you smiled and—wow. Have I told you how stunning your dimples are?”
