Page 113 of Take the Plunge
“Do any of you fish?” Halle asks.
I shake my head.
“I can,” Rufus says. “Do you want me to teach you?”
“Maybe. It looks relaxing, but it might gross me out.”
“We can take a couple of rods to the lake tomorrow,” Rufus says. “Maybe do some skinny-dipping. Don’t worry. This is private land. No one else will be around.”
Halle bites her lip. “Skinny-dipping sounds fun.”
We finish eating, watch a film together, and then go upstairs to bed. Jett and I are in the farthest room to the left, while Rufus and Halle are in the farthest room to the right.
I flop onto our bed and tuck my hands under my head. “I’m sorry about Rufus.”
“Why?”
“Because he keeps bringing up marriage.”
Jett lies beside me, lifts my T-shirt a little, and strokes my stomach. “He’s just trying to provoke us.” He grimaces. “Or me, to be more accurate. You always go with the flow. I’m the one who reacts.”
“Nah, I’ve just got a better poker face than you.” I cup his cheek. “I love you.”
He stares into my eyes and swallows, his Adam’s apple bobbing. He turns his face and kisses my palm. “I—” He crashes his lips against mine.
This kiss is even better than the ones outside. He lies over me, pushing his hand under my T-shirt. I tangle my fingers through his hair and squeeze his arse. I part my lips so he can pillage my mouth with his tongue. I groan and whimper as he grinds against me. Who needs words when this is how he shows how much he adores and wants me?
“I want to take your clothes off,” he whispers.
“Less talking, more doing.”
He kneels, pulls me into a sitting position, and tugs my T-shirt off, but when it’s halfway over my head, he freezes. Even though Rufus and Halle are at the other end of the hall, and there are two closed doors between us, their voices drift towards us.
“Oh, God,” Jett says.
“They’re—vocal.”
He curls his lip.
“Yeah, it’s a total turn-off,” I say. “Sorry. Hearing other people going at it really doesn’t do it for me. But at least it sounds like they’re having fun.”
“Yeah.” Jett pulls my T-shirt down.
We lie side by side, legs and arms tangled.
“They’re getting louder,” Jett says. “Why was Rufus worried about us disturbing them?”
I chuckle. “I have no idea.”
He brushes his lips over mine. “Do you want to get out of here?”
“And go where?”
“The lake.” His voice is husky. “We could go swimming again.”
“Skinny-dipping?”
“Yes.”
