Devon felt his alpha’s gaze on him, and he looked up and managed a smile.
“What would you like to do today?” Roman asked him.
Devon knew Roman wanted him to meet his parents first, but had changed his mind after Devon’s little breakdown.
“We could meet your parents. From what I’ve seen, they seem lovely.”
“They are,” Roman smiled, “But there’s no hurry, they can wait another day if you want.”
“No, it’s fine. Really, I don’t mind,” Devon bit his lips, “You’ll be there the whole time right?”
“I won’t go anywhere, I promise.”
Devon nodded decisively, “Then, I’d like to meet your parents.”
“Your wish is my command.”
When his alpha said those words, Devon could feel the truth behind them, and more than ever he was grateful he’d found his way to Roman.
Chapter Fifteen
Roman
Roman was ready to do whatever his mate needed. He would have kept his family away if that was what Devon needed, but his strong and brave mate had said no, and that was how they’d ended up with a house full of people.
Thankfully, it wasn’t the whole pack, it was just Roman’s immediate family that had shown up, and he knew he had Rick to thank for that. His alpha brother probably kept everyone away, but he knew they would so have to have a get together introducing Devon to the rest of the pack, though Roman would make certain his mate was ready first.
Roman had thought he would have to stand by his mate the whole time. Actually he’d wanted to, but his omega brother, River, and his papa had swooped in and taken his mate away. Apparently, they said it was to welcome him into the family.
Ro had asked Devon mentally if he wanted to go. His omega hadn’t been sure, but Ro reminded him he would just have to think it, and Roman would come and rescue him.
While Devon was with his papa, it gave Roman a chance to tell Rick everything he knew about the bastard that had made his mate’s life hell.
His brother promised to get people on it and he knew Rick. He would come through. Not only were other omegas in trouble, but Devon was family and family and pack came first.
When he checked in on his mate again, he loved feeling his joy. He had known that his family would accept Devon, but now Devon would know it too, and his mate would know what it was like to have a real loving home.
Hopefully, before their child was born, Anton would get what was coming to him, and his mate could become a papa, with that part of his life behind him.
“So what’s the plan?” Roman asked his brother Rick.
“Finn, Dax, and Ronin are going to take the lead. They have the most experience after serving in the human army,” Rick replied.
Ro glanced at his cousins, “Thank you.”
Ro made sure they saw and felt the sincerity behind his words.
“If he’s hurting omegas, then he doesn’t deserve to live. Plus your mate, he’s family and he’s pack. And you know how it goes…”
“Family and pack first,” Ro said.
And it wasn’t just words. Even though everything was less feudal now, there was a time when it was every pack for himself. That hadn’t happened since the time of Ro’s grandfather, but all of them were raised to fight, and defend the pack.
