“Or they could not be stalkers,” I growl.

My eyes are drawn back to the bags, and Grant moves down a step.

“What are these?” I rasp.

“Courting gifts. I told you that this was going to happen. I’m just keeping my promises. You deserve nice things, to decorate how you’d like, and items of your own. Oh…this is also yours.”

Bending down, Grant picks up a hoodie that’s been carefully arranged over a couple of bags.

“This is yours now,” he says, handing it to me.

I recognize the hoodie as the one that he wore on his run earlier this morning. I have no shame in bringing it to my nose and inhaling deeply.

“Good,” I say possessively. “You’re never getting it back.”

“And I promise to wear it if you ever need my scent refreshed,” he winks.

Insufferable alphas.

“Thanks and whatever,” I say, annoyed at how nice this is.

He isn’t the nice one, dammit.

“No problem, Little Nightmare. You don’t even have to tell me how much you like them,” Grant says, stepping completely off the porch before taking his finger to tilt my head up to look at him. “That’s a nice wet spot by the way.”

“Ugh, go away,” I say, unable to hide my chuckle.

“Only because I need to go. Bye, beautiful.”

Gathering up the bags, I turn and watch him jog across the street and continue to his car. Damn, he really made sure I wouldn’t see it.

It’s not until I start unbagging things inside that I find that he bought anything I even looked in the direction of. Sneaky and very sweet alpha.

Two weeks later

Isolde

“Hey, it’s time,”Devon says as he wakes me up out of dead sleep.

My skin feels itchy as I sit up, and I’m hot. Can I get hot flashes without a heat?

“You sound like Rafiki in the Lion King,” I complain, struggling to wake up as I hold the phone to my ear. “It’s two in the morning, Devon.”

“It’s going to take you three to get here if you leave now,” he says. “Toad and the Reaping Marauders had a big party last night. They’re still at it according to my spy. They’ll all be passed out by the time you get here.”

“Am I to understand that we’re going to do this my way?” I ask. “Quick, messy, and a blood bath to get the message across not to fuck with the Knotted Anarchy MC?”

“Yes,”he says. “You were right, as usual. If you weren’t a woman, I think you could rule the world.”

“That’s some fancy backhanded flattery,” I mutter. “What am I looking at? Will there be any kids at the clubhouse? Or women who aren’t part of this?”
