Page 77 of Remorseless
Grunting, he glanced at the screen and widened his eyes. “Fuck! She’s gorgeous.”
Marion’s curiosity almost overruled his good sense.
“She’s tiny, isn’t she?” Cee Cee added, staring in awe and sliding his finger down the screen in an icky manner. She was achild.
“She’ll earn us a premium.”
Cee Cee shoved the phone back to Sharper. “Find another cunt. I’m making Joe’s daughter off limits.”
Sharper started to argue.
“We owe him,” Cee Cee said with impatience.
“Youowe him.”
“He’ll make more money for us in the long run than her cunt will earn in total.”
Unease slid into Marion. If he survived tonight, how could he alert Joe to what these horrible men intended for his baby girl?
“Your bitch shot him up, didn’t she?” Cee Cee asked, changing the subject.
“She’s a good pet.”
“She’s a fucking snake. You finally married right. A bitch to rule in hell with you.”
“You’ll be there with us.”
“Didn’t say I wouldn’t be. It isn’t as if I give a fuck, anyway.”
“Joe will be fine, Cee Cee. I will see to it that Rack looks after him. When he’s ready to retire, your boy will have his spot.”
“Tell your bullshit to someone else. I’m not this stupid, idealistic motherfucker.” He nodded to Joe. “You think I’m a fucking fool, but I fucking swear before this little fat, holy motherfucker, if you or any of the motherfuckers aligned with you, fuck over Joe—or my kid—and don’t get this stupid motherfuckerinto rehab, I will fucking personally torture you. And if I don’t do it because you’ve fucked me up, any one of my brothers, all of them, will have you begging to die before you do. Am I fucking clear?”
“Very,” Sharper said faintly.
Cee Cee brooded a moment, then snatched Sharper’s phone again and stared at it. He pressed his lips together, his gaze roaming from the screen to Joe and back again. He threw the phone between them. “If you touch this little cunt before she turns eighteen, I’ll still kill you.”
“We already have pussy buyers.”
“Not as of now, you stupid motherfucker. No matter his condition, he’s still her father. He’d move heaven and hell for that little bitch.Andyou’re taking his moneyandmy fucking money as a bounty for her fucking life. I intended to stop when she turned eighteen, but I’ll pay for as long as I need to if she keeps Joe grounded.”
“Fine! I’ll cancel the sales,” Sharper gritted, then looked at Marion. He reached into his jacket.
Marion ran to the last pew and ducked in front of it.
“I would never desecrate a sanctuary,” Sharper called blandly. “I was only getting money to buy your silence.”
Crawling to the center aisle, Marion peeped around the pew. Sharper held out a wad of cash.
Marion stood and dusted off the knees of his pajamas. Joe’s eyes popped open, and he jumped to his feet. He glanced around, spotted his gun and grabbed it, pointing it toward…air.
“The Martians just landed their spaceship. They want to kidnap me.”
“Motherfucker, it would be better if theydidkidnap you,” Cee Cee snapped.
Before Joe responded, Marion’s worst nightmare walked through the door. He’d know those dark, vengeful eyes anywhere.
God, he was about to meet his Maker. He hadn’t seen Freya in years, ever since he’d gone on the run. He had no idea the location of his four older daughters, all by different women, but his youngest…
