Fuck. Web is out with Allen and Alder.
Cort: “Get Chaps with Aris and Asa. Hold on. Amal, take Akai’s position as engineer. Can you do that from there?”
Amal: “Roger, Boss.” He pulls his tablet and a rolled keyboard from his bag.
Cort: “Akai, take Lead IT and get me information. Brinks, Akai will take Lead IT, get the newbie to support him. Amal, get the pilot boards following the car.”
Everyone rogers him and I’m watching the Flight Crew’s faces. “They run Ops, Security and surveillance for the Clubs.”
They just nod.
Cort is reading the monitor behind Akai. VP is leaning over a gunner to read. “Sonofabitch.”
Cort: “Anton, I need you. Hay-bale, switch places.”
Anton: “Roger, Boss.” The panel gets a once-over before he moves. “Coordinates aligned, Boss.” Stoker rogers him smiling.
Cort: “Get me everything you can on this dickass.”
Anton: “Roger, Boss.” He sits in front of Amal and starts typing on his little keyboard. “Boss, Ops?”
Cort doesn’t understand. “Send everything to Akai at the Lead in Ops. Akai is hooked into there.”
Cort: “Yeah. Sorry, Anton, I don’t have a screen for the chat.”
Anton: “Got your back. Tablet, Boss.”
I laugh, Cort bends and pulls his tablet out and powers it up.
Cort: “Thanks, Anton. Get the info board up for me so I can read it from here.
Anton: “Roger, Boss.”
He hasn’t stopped typing and Cort alternates from his tablet to the monitor.
Cort: “Akai, get me on with Jinx.”
Akai: “On, Boss.”
Cort: “Jinx. This dickass was at the school today bitching about the change. A report was filed, but they let him go. Anton is getting the report. His house is three streets from Seren’s dads. Best guess, where’s he going?”
VP: “Credit Union or steakhouse.”
“Freedom’s studio. Problem with change, Seren’s known address, Freedom would be a target.” They both look at me.
Cort: He nods. “Jinx said the same thing. Jinx, get Security raised to high on them and Enforcers to Freedom’s shop.” That’s what Freedom calls the studio too.
Akai: “Boss, car in sight.”
Cort looks at the monitor.
Cort: “Enforcers aren’t making it, Jinx. Clear the building and get Brinks to set us down.”
Shit, that could be dangerous. I relay that danger. “Stoker, he’s a possible fire starter.”
Cort: “What does that mean. Fuck. The wind.”
I nod. Brinks tells me we can land a street behind. I’m guessing Cort got that too because he tells Jinx to do that.
