Chapter Twelve
Two weeks two days
Ranger
I run through the house and hit the door opener on my way. My lid goes on and I check my guns. Backing out, I drop my head. Cort and Falcon are sitting with VP laughing as they watch. “Four minutes. Not bad, Ranger.”
“You’re all assholes. I was fucking busy.”
Cort laughs. “She’s got an early class. If you meant to finish, you would have started that earlier.”
“I did. Why am I out here now?” I just left her with a kiss and bye on the way to the shower.
“We’re saving you. Victory is here and she’s got a new man. You are gonnalovehim. She slept at my house last night because she didn’t know where you live.” VP smiles. “You’re welcome.”
I laugh, he lives next door. “Thanks, Brother.”
Falcon smiles. “Let’s get breakfast.”
Sounds like a better plan than Victory and her new man following me around because Freedom has a class. “Okay.”
I start my bike and they laugh. I shrug and put my lid back on. The ride to C is uneventful and boring on the slab. I like the back roads.
Falcon asks, “Did we get more names for the choppers?”
“Yeah. We got six for each Club and six more for us,” Cort answers.
VP is going to say something. “We don’t need six choppers at each Club.”
I can hear Cort’s smile. “But we’ll have them in case they’re needed.”
“Major doesn’t even want six. He’s got two now. He said one.”
Falcon looks over at me and I know he’s smiling. I am too.
“With the threat reaching international and us being targeted, I’d say we’d be smart to spread Flight Crews and choppers around.” Falcon stops VP.
“Yeah?”
I chime in. “I agree. If we get hit, we’d need those choppers coming in to cover our ass.”
“Okay then. The Little Brothers get a Badass Innovation patch for the lists we use.”
“Fucking Rex,” Cort says making me laugh.
“So, Victory’s new man. Why will I like him?”
“He’s anti-gun, military, fighting, women fighting and militarized organizations. Basically, he hates everything we do. He doesn’t mind drugs though. Freedom will have a field day with him if you don’t kill him first.”
Cort laughs. “You can borrow my dish, I’ll help. McCabe said we have to use the red tape on the chain, but we added orange and yellow to match the logo.”
Falcon swerves laughing. I’m glad I at least keep riding the line. “After living here, she fell for a guy that hates us? They live on a commune like they’re on Gilligan’s island.”
“Maybe she likes walking for fresh water and shit. She talks to Daniel and Lorelei, so they got better than coconuts to talk through.” VP has Falcon swerving again.
“We should have taken the back road. Falcon’s gonna be surfing at eighty.” Cort’s comment coming out so nonchalant has me laughing again.
“I fucking missed this. It’s good to be home, Brothers.” Falcon feels like I do.
