Chapter Ten
Ranger
Cort, Doc and VP are here. I almost groaned when I saw VP, but he’s been pretty quiet. Asa and Allen are with us. Cort thought taking an oriental and albino with us would be good. I’m glad he thought about it. Doc has me with cans and a pad over the cover, it feels better than the thick padding from the last time. I know he's been watching me, but I’m fine.
We set down next to a Badass plane. I keep the cans on until I’m out of the chopper. Jester follows me out and takes them when I pull them off closer to the plane. “Thanks, Brother.”
He makes me smile throwing chin. Dakota and Jessie are waiting by the stairs. “It is good to see you again, Brothers. It is a much happier situation than the last time we met. Aiyana and Jeremy are waiting for you, Ranger. They have healed what they can for the boys. You will be surprised. They are more animated than any others that we have seen.”
Jessie rolls his eyes. “Go on up, Ranger. He’s excited to see boys that move today.”
I hold my ear and laugh. Dakota’s hand holds my arm and Jessie looks concerned. “Sorry, Brother. Take him up, Dakota, and fix that.”
Dakota is a healer too. I walk with him then follow him in. A beautiful Indian and a pale looking Brother smile my way. “You will get the chance to see the boys, Ranger. Let us heal you first while Doc checks on them.”
“Here,” the Brother says pointing to a seat by the cockpit doors.
I sit. Cort is standing between the open seating area and here. Aiyana goes with Doc and Dakota puts his hand on my arm again with the pale Brother putting his hand on my shoulder.
Dakota laughs. “Jeremy does not talk out loud much. He is a gifted healer and very important to the Clubs. Cloud, we could use you while Aiyana is speaking with Doc.”
Jeremy is the pale Brother. I move to see him. “Thank you, Jeremy and Dakota.”
They both smile. A big Indian comes out of the cockpit. He’s older. “Cloud Blackhawk. Jeremy and many others’ father.”
Jeremy laughs. My body is vibrating with a weird heat. I close my eye and go with it. “Thanks, Cloud.”
The heat changes and I open my eye. Aiyana is here, but Dakota and Jeremy aren’t. Cloud is at the door watching the seating area.
“They are with the boys. Jeremy is excited that they are showing small interactions so quickly, it is better than we saw in Tibet. Having Dakota with us today was very helpful.” She smiles. “I think Jeremy also likes to pick their brains with all that computer information.” She makes me smile.
“Thank you for what you’ve been doing for them. They’re so smart and are learning to love life outside of a computer.” I think about Jacques and Radimir in the pool yesterday. They were so fucking happy and splashing each other just having fun like little boys should.
“I see they have come far from where they were. I am encouraged that they may all live the lives they deserve. Thank you for making that so for them. I will give progress when I return. Relax, Ranger, and I will do what I can with our time here.”
“Thank you, Aiyana.” I lean back and relax.
I feel hands on my face and open my eye. Doc is bent in front of me. “Crazy is going to feel good, Ranger.”
I laugh moving my hand, but it doesn’t hurt. “It already does, Brother.”
Cort laughs holding a small dark-haired boy. Asa stands next to him. “Boss! Is good.”
I smile. “It feels good, Asa.”
Doc moves my head up and I’m surprised I don’t have pain. “Look up so I can take the film out.”
I do and blink when it’s out. “It feels good to see out of both eyes even for a little while.”
Aiyana laughs. “You are fine to see out of both from now on, Ranger. Aiyana and Jeremy have many gifts, but healing is the most rewarding when they can see the results,” Dakota says.
Jessie laughs with me. “It’s white, but the skin is smooth and you didn’t hold your ear when you laughed.”
I nod liking that I can. “Thank you, everyone, for the boys and for me. I’m honored that you did this for us.”
“As are we for your belief and help with strengthening and promoting the vision. Your story is long, Ranger, you and Freedom will live it happily.” Aiyana said her name.
I’m shocked. Jessie laughs. “Let them get home. I bet Freedom is waiting.”
